We have to remember that they didn't hit Alpha yet in that footy. ;)

That's what I said. It must be a lot better now. :D

larafan25 12-04-12 19:08

Nothing enough the animations seemed rough to me aside from the scramble animation and the cuts between animatiosn. But the animations themselves were goreous. Jumping and pulling up. Oh my GAWD. :/

I like this. :pi:

Yeah you can see how she's still plainly holding the torch.

Nice detail. I would've been okay with her grabbing despite what she's holding tbh, that's cool. I love the climbing up animation. It's so realistic and normal. It's exactly how I would climb up.

Someone make a screen of that. :pi:

It looks good in screens, but in motion it's horribly fast and frog-jump-like. =/

I'd agree with this. It was almost jarring to see it for the first time.

I agree it's too fast.

just*raidin*tomb 12-04-12 21:55

It's such a nice little animation.

larafan25 12-04-12 22:07

I like that the pull-up animation is fast, it needs to be if you're avoiding something, right?

edit: Are we talking about the animation itself, or how she moves between animations?

It is too fast, but I don't mind. I like it that way. The whole jumping and pulling up animation is flawless.

just*raidin*tomb 12-04-12 22:10

I think the animation itself. I'll admit I was surprised when I first saw it. But I can't make out if it was because I was dying to see her jump or do something or because it was completely new and different...or what. But it looks good to me. Maybe it is a bit fast, but all game animations are fast these days. Unresponsiveness isn't good even if it is a bit more realistic.

I just..don't find it too fast at all. :/

Clearly when playing the demo they go from hitting the ledge to climbing up pretty fast, but that just depends on how soon you press the bottom.

The jumping and pulling up moment (what I posted) was the moment when I fell in love with hurr :p <33

just*raidin*tomb 12-04-12 22:13

I love how the bottles fall down with she climbs up.

How cool is that.

larafan25 12-04-12 22:14

I hope there are a lot of physics items in the world.

just*raidin*tomb 12-04-12 22:16

Oh and the planks that fell when she walked up to them.

Those little details are cool.

Cans that she brushed up against as they clanked.

Nice. Little. Details.

Stevo505 12-04-12 22:16

I'm glad her animation is fast. She's trying to get out of a cave with some voice echoing throughout it... don't you think she should be moving with some urgency?

Lukass 12-04-12 22:17

^ Exactly. And the little details are pretty important.

larafan25 12-04-12 22:17

It doesn't even seem urgent to me though. Just that fact that she pulls up right when she grabs seems fast, but otherwise it just seems normal.

:/

All the little details, sounds, and items falling remind me of UC1 the Bunker.

That stuff was nice. I thought I was the only one who found that stuff kind of awesome. :p

Well she swings her leg up pretty fast, especially considering she was impaled a few minutes prior.

And yeah, the bunker is a good comparison I think, with the tight spaces and eerie noises.

edit - ^Yeah, I loved those little details too. The bottles falling off the ledge when she climbed up were very cool. Hopefully we'll see this attention to detail throughout the game.

Seriously one of the most terrifying gaming segments I've ever played. o_o EDIT: Wait I'm not sure if we're talking about the same chapter..

Oh and her jumps and how she pulls up...they really appear to have some weight to them. Just compare it with Underworld and you'll see a HUGE difference. It looks like it would feel good to pull Lara up from a ledge. Does that make sense? :p

larafan25 12-04-12 22:20

^Yes. It looks like jumping feels really good IMO.

Well given that circumstance yes, but CD didn't want to hamper the player's movements or something...I guess.

Oh yes, the chapter with the weird zombie things? That chapter had me freaked out. I had to pause every few minutes to regain my composure... I seriously wasn't expecting something like that from that kind of game!

And I totally agree about the weight thing. She actually looks like she'll be easy to steer and control. She no longer looks like a weightless monkey/spider on crack...

larafan25 12-04-12 22:24

So what if one of the scavenger dens has more of those hanging sacks, but the people inside are consious and sort of moving a bit and making noises?

just*raidin*tomb 12-04-12 22:24

Wrong thread. Oops.

Maybe we can set them on fire with our torch.... OMG that's horrible I shouldn't think like that.

OMG I bet it's part of a puzzle. You have to light all the lanterns but maybe...since it's raining you have to look for a route that isn't out in the rain when you're lighting a lantern or else the torch will die?

Or maybe if your out in the rain for a while the torch dies after about 30 seconds or so? Because i don't think it would die immediately.

I just hope the torch doesn't die in the rain.

OMG. That would be nice for...like...the game world being consistent, but also horrible.

Stevo505 12-04-12 22:27

It is horrible. But is it bad that I think it would be kind of funny? o.o

Shame on me.

It would be disturbing I think.

I don't think CD would let us because it might interfere with Lara's character....unless the bodies are transforming into enemies.

Yes, I agree. And HECK I KNOW. That ending was so unexpected I was literally terrified. Mother of god those things...

Lukass 12-04-12 22:28

Did you notice she's "sliding" at certain moments? Look at her feet at 6:55 when she's standing at the cage. Then at 08:05 after the second scavenger's attack and then at 08:55/56/57...Can you see the "sliding"? Why is that?

Yeah, I noticed when she comes out of the "cutscenes" she like slides before beginning her animation. I think it's a glitch, but I remember Underworld having a problem with coming out of cutscenes. Lara would sometimes like slide a little on the ground or sort of float. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it was similar to that.

As for the feet sliding, I think that's just a problem with the animations. I've seen stuff like that in cartoons before...

just*raidin*tomb 12-04-12 22:30

Ohh I see what you're saying. Haha, its barely noticeable. :p

Ohhh ohhh yeah Underworld did have something similar. Like her hair would twitch and she would slide/turn right after a cutscene. It's just model entering the game world...I'm guessing. Though it is kind of odd. Most games don't have that. :/

Oh my god I can see it. (especially at the end) :I It will not bother us, I hope. It is very hard to notice.
