I guess we're gonna see it farther away in the campaing. I mean, like if the campaing progresses as Lara in the game: First the render where she's scared and injuried at the beach (http://tombraidercosplay.net/images/...uet-render.jpg), then the one when she's stronger and fighting (the one we'll getting tomorrow) and then the one when she's become a bad-ass because of all she had to survive.

Who knows. :D

I think well get is as we progress though the story.

Though that makes me wonder, what would we craft ourselves with the base camps scavenging mechanic?

A couple of key items perhaps. Or maybe you can combine small health(s) to make large health. I really don't see it as being anything more than that.
