Oh I see, you're waiting for this new reboot to be the present.

What do you mean "again" ? This is the new Lara Croft. We haven't seen her before. AKA LC.

larafan25 20-04-12 01:00

^tHE CHARACTER OF lARA cROFT WILL NEVER BE AS BIG ON PLANET EARTH AGAIN SORRY FOR THE CAPS WHOOPS BAI.

I think ...it may not be in the nature for video game characters to be as ...everywhere as they were, but Lara will always have that past which is more than other VG characters can say, plus she's still going an doen stuff leik gurl u no ahhh an stuff so okayh yeah.

Yes, I know, but I don't think Lara Croft will be all over everything like she was in the 90s. Everyone knows who she is anyway, but I don't think she'll be on People magazine or on buses or anything.

Yes, this. Except the last part. Not sure what you're trying to communicate LF :vlol:

It's still the Lara Croft/TR franchise. Why are you in denial?

LC can only get more popular than she already was. She's only had 2 movies. Now that I think about it, the video game industry needs a jolt.

TOMB RAIDER will be it I think. It's more than just a reboot, it's a revival.

In what way to do think TR is going to give the game industry a jolt?

Stevo505 20-04-12 01:16

The gaming industry has been growing for a while now =/ Tomb Raider is just getting a late start to join the other top games.

Yep. And if they really are going to start the proper campaign at E3, the game should better be ****ing good and unique, otherwise...I don't even wanna imagine it.

They've actually got some revolutionary, next-generation stuff on this.

You don't really hear much about video games nowadays. We need something to make Playstation a staple again.

TOMB RAIDER can do that. If you think about it, they've only hit the surface with what they can do with Lara Croft.

The appeal is pretty good. I was 16 when I was playing Tomb Raider with those crunchy graphics and I thought it was the best thing ever. But now, this is the realest we've ever seen her, probably the most dramatic..

We thought we knew Lara Croft.

Stevo505 20-04-12 01:27

Sony couldn't care less about Tomb Raider. They have Uncharted.

I think you're looking into things too deep than it needs to.

We thought we knew Lara Croft? Hell, yeah. I thought I know her in LAU but no, apparently she's a bipolar byproduct of a retard.

You are joking right?
Games are talking about ALL the time. With Mass Effect 3, new games from the developers of Rain, the new Unreal Engine, and ground breaking Halo 4 there are way more games that are being revolutionary. Also we can't say CD is doing anything special in this game, there just isnt enough information.

I agree. So far from what we've seen of the gameplay video, it's all pretty basic and ordinary, nothing revolutionary.

Same old quick time event prompt button is still there and all. Only thing I like is the look and feel of the game, but that's not saying much.

Doing otherwise is going to bring disappointment in a lot of fans. I feel like fans hype the game way more than the developers do. I don't see anything revolutionary about this game and to be honest I don't think they would take that type of risk in this game. I feel like they are going to make a very polished, basic game. Maybe it will be different compared to other TRs but I dont see anything special about this game so far.

Well removing magnetism is special, I mean for goodness sakes we've complained about it for three games.

Also, if the hubs are big enough to explore, and we have enough choice, then that's pretty special.

They say the combat is going to be unique and that's why it's the last thing they're going to show. They have extra team developing the combat which will have a lot of techniques and stuff. The game is not going to be just an action combat game, but it will play far bigger role than in the past games. Also the platforming and traversal system seems to be more dynamic than ever before. I bet they're making perfect game, but I agree with you - I'm still not convinced it's going to be anything revolutionary and special.

Stevo505 20-04-12 01:52

How can combat be unique? Hasn't everything been done before?

I'm asking myself too :tmb: I don't really know how unique and new it could be. I also think everything has been done before. Well, it must be somehow different if they're so secretive about it. I mean especially about it.

larafan25 20-04-12 01:54

It can be unique to Tomb Raider though, and Tomb Raider may blend stuff in a unique way...

All of that sounds good on paper for TReboot. Remember Underworld? How it sounds great and everything, how they said about day/night cycle, about the awesome camera and how you can take pics of animals (like if you bombed a shark, etc) and post it online, how the game will be EPIC; only for us to find it's average and not all features are there in the game. Plus Lara's choppy animation made it much worse. There's many other things wrong with that game but I'm not gonna delve into it.

So, I'm just going to stay cautiously optimistic. What they say now does not necessarily carry forward into the final product, judging from their past history.

New to Tomb Raider, yes.

New to the world, probably not.

I will totally eat my worlds this they show something completely new, no game has ever done. I just dont believe that will happen.

BTW whats up with the coloured font of Tomb Raider. Did I miss a completely useless new fad?

motoleo 20-04-12 02:03

I think the selling point will be the realism, which to me looks to be astounding. You're going to feel like you're on the island yourself.

This needs to be a Blockbuster. This needs to be a hit. We're talking about the Queen of Videogames here.

Who's the most successful female character in a video game?
Tomb Raider.

Who's the most detailed character in a video game?
Tomb Raider.

What's the most recognizable videogame character?
Tomb Raider.

What do you think of as the quintessential Action-Adventure game?
Tomb Raider.

And...

What game has been the fastest selling game for Square Enix? Tomb Raider.

So...it is by these virtues that we are lucky enough to keep getting more games.

What games are TR up against anyway as far as similar time of launch titles?

Lukass 20-04-12 02:05

@Shark_Blade & @Mr. Giraffe

Do you think they would lie about things again? I mean, it's safe to say that they made LAU and LCGoL for us - fans, but they're focused on new players with the reboot too. They're trying to catch as much people as possible this time. I don't think they would do the same mistakes again, if you know what I mean. And also, the publisher now is Square-Enix. I don't really think they would tolerate that.

Stevo505 20-04-12 02:08

Most recognized is actually probably Mario.

Also, I think AC3 and Black Ops 2 (or whatever) are releasing Fall 2012 too.

larafan25 20-04-12 02:09

Yep, Mario beat Lara.

"Wow, Tomb Raider has some big boobs."

That's like when I was at Disneyland and I heard a little kid say "Look at Tangled's hair!" when she met Rapunzel O_o

Oh, no, no. CD would never ever lied to us! Heaven forbid! They're practically saints!

Seriously, they've done it many times before or don't you remember?

You don't think they'll do the same mistakes again? Blind faith I see. It's good to have faith, but let's be realistic. And Square as a publisher does not guarantee anything, CD is still under Eidos. And Square has a few final fantasy games that flopped, there's nothing perfect in this world. Nothing is absolutely guaranteed success.

Hence why we are cautiously optimistic. Not overly, just cautiously.

Lol @ the highlighted part!

Um, yeah, I do remember, I just refuse to believe the game could be worse than Legend and Underworld, if you know what I mean. They did well with LCGoL and even if it wasn't Tomb Raider game, it gave me the closest TR feel and sense from all their games. Oh God, please let the game be good.

How many TR games have been released since SquEnix has been the publisher/distributor? One - Guardian of Light. And while it was successful, it's far far far from SquEnix's "fastest selling game". Have you never heard of the Final Fantasy series? I doubt Tomb Raider will ever enjoy the kind of sales figures those games do.

larafan25 20-04-12 02:40

GOL is the best Tomb Raider game.

GOL is not a Tomb Raider game.

motoleo 20-04-12 02:42

You know the worst-case scenario will be Square Enix saying, "Our sales goals were not met. Tomb Raider has been an excellent franchise, but we're going to stop here." then basically running away.

But I'm not going to be part of that. Even if it's bad I'm gonna say its good. Just to secure another game.

larafan25 20-04-12 02:45

Saying it's good won't do crap all.

If they're going to do another game, they're going to do another game. The most we can do is provide decent and true-ish feedback.
