This was posted by irishhips in mgc, but I'm putting it here as well.

Spot on.

I'm staggered at the tide of change that seems to have swept this board over the last few days. I'm sure loads of you think I'm probably getting some kind of a kick out of seeing such a noticeable portion of the members suddenly turn on the game. But I'm not. Yes, I have been of the opinion that the game looked crap from pretty early on, but I only ever applied that to myself, not anyone else. Not for one minute did I envision Crystal seemingly striking out for so many people here. It's really quite depressing :(

Everyone (but you) will jump back on the ship after the tombs are revealed. Well, nevermind. I guess everyone will say "that's too easy!". Idk. The one mistake Crystal made was unveiling the game too soon. The more the hype builds, the more people expect. When the game is released, everyone's gonna say "that's all?" It's just something I learned from popstars. :p |
I just find it so funny how easily people because so impressed, but then so depressed in the matter of seconds. Not that I don't do that sometimes, but it's kind of ridiculous. Like we see a screenshot and love it and then when it's in motion we hate it. (I love it) Or we see something that helps us in the slightest and all hell breaks loose.
Just an observation, not that i'm excluded, but its funny how people can change their mind so quickly as if they were bipolar :p |

But the thing is... there are some really great qualities with this game. It also has some downright unlikable qualities as well. Obviously I'm only speaking for myself, but I constantly find myself being pulled between thinking "okay...really?" and "wow that was pretty awesome". It's just that everything seems so inconsistent. Sometimes its good and sometimes its bad and I've felt like that ever since i saw the first gameplay demo in 2011. It's just that I've kept a very positive and hopeful attitude about it until now because we hadn't seen anything much of substance and most of what we saw was slapped the title of tutorial. |
Maybe the best marketing plan for any game would be, well very little and poor marketing. If the fans and magazines expect crap even the most averige game will seem great to them. On the contrast to that if you promise epic games and graphics that will make other developers cry... well even the best thing won't be enough since everyone has a different image of what epic and mindblowing is.

Where's Larafan when you need him? We could do with some mindless optimism.

Also I love how Lara looks like (thanks Camilla!<3) but that's it. http://25.media.tumblr.com/a1c165de8...no1_r1_500.jpg |
Where is that screen from?
I like that her fringe is finally moving and the tips are separating into strands :) |

I think he is on eidos boards now. I think that pic is from the PC version, the details are much better than on the rest of the pics. |
The parachute sequence is no doubt amazing. I mean its impressive and looks very good. But with that said, its a scripted cutscene mess like everything else I've seen. Which just ruins it for me.
The combat and stealth at least sounds very interesting and fun though. And if the puzzles manage to be just as fun as GoL's then I'll learn to be satisfied with the game. :p *tries to be optimistic again* .__. |

Can't we all just kiss and make up with CD? After the game comes out we can be angry if need be. Just three more months. Pleeeeeeease? :(

^If they answer me white ledges question in the next Q & A then I'll think about it. :D

Btw I actually enjoy the eidos forums. People say what they want to say and move on. The pointless going around in circles conversations don't happen and its a nice place to go if you want to take a break from this chaos. :p |

The thing that made my optimism go down the drain was (I can't remember wich interview exactly) when they stated that you can't fall from every cliff or ledge, there are some places you can't fall so you could have the full emotion or experience I can't remember correctly.

I would almost prefer if they just brought back the automatic hang when you walk off a ledge. Then at least things would be consistent. But now I don't know whether I'll fall off a ledge or not. |

Have we seen this already?
http://www.gamesradar.com/21-awesome...Raider21things Details: "chewed on by wolves and other predatory creatures" shot to death by arrows (one of which pierced her throat), and had her voice box gracefully removed by the ravenous fangs of a pack of wolves. Solved lots of puzzles Lara couldn’t even engage in melee brawls until she found a climbing pickaxe--even then, it was used more for stunning targets than facing them head-on. Lara's no Nathan Drake--and we mean that in the best way possible. Then we died when his buddies saw us and set fire to the place. There were a wide variety of collectibles to find, from GPS units to lost letters, all of which provided small clues about the island's past while hinting at the fates of the marooned travelers that came before. "What?! A tomb raider raiding tombs!? Indeed. But the tombs we found on the island weren’t some hamfisted inclusion whose sole purpose was to provide some kind of connection to the series' past outings. Instead, they provided the opportunity to uncover more of the island's many secrets and expose its rich history. Plus, we earned tons of extra salvage and experience points, and a cool "Tomb raided!" popped up on screen afterward, which was pretty awesome." Our axe didn’t just automatically connect when we leapt toward a wall, though--we had to be sure to hit a certain button at just the right time, otherwise we would plummet to our death. This climbing mechanic was intuitive, fluid and fun, guiding us towards our goal while still leaving ultimate success or failure firmly in our hands. |
