All that matters is that this thing is not made by CD so it didn't take up development time away from TR12 or classic remasters/remakes/ports

Like I said we don't know what this is or what their plans are. Let's just wait before the meltdowns.

This is coming from the queen of meltdowns, it ain't time yet.

I'm most certainly not having a meltdown, because in my eyes this defuncts the alleged 'leak' that the next game is another TR1 remake/reimagining. Which is nothing but good news to me, considering how over I am of things been rehashed. As I said, I really don't think SE/CD would do that to us as it will only push TR to becoming stale once again.

I just want there to be more creative freedom by exploring new stories, mythologies and characters is all.

I didn't say you were, I apologise, I probably should have posted more clearly and worded my post better. :wve:

I'm just saying we should wait till more info is available. I do understand the communities hesitation to embrace what we have.

But gameplay is also important. So far there’s 0 evidence as to what this game is aside from the fact that she has two guns and shorts and a ponytail.

How does the game actually play? What do you do?
All of those are important. Not just Lara’s design. I’m cautiously optimistic, but the devs other games are kinda crappy.

Reboot Lara had plenty of good outfits/looks in the reboot comics and that's her style. IMO her style isn't CLara's signature outfit or pretty much a majority of what CLara wears. CLara looks so good in her choice of outfits because she has the ethnic look, voluptuous body proportions, exotic and curvy features. Her clothing is custom made to fit her. I wouldn't want RLara wearing CLara's trademarks because the fans ask for it because it just wouldn't make sense (at least to me) I cant picture RLara in a leotard top, short shorts, latex catsuits, etc because it doesn't fit her personality.

Its good to see CLara come back but not in a form of a mobile game. When I saw these pictures, I thought it would be for some cool ass PS4/PS5 game or something but seconds after learning it was a phone game I just lost all hope

this post made no sense LOL!

No apologies needed, its all g.

Even if this isn't based purely on TR1 (could get short episodes based around all the classic games or something) its clearly SE trying to throw a bone to classic fans. Which does make me think they'll keep the mainline games as far away from Classic TR as they can, much like how they tried to do that with the Lara Croft games. But you are right, its all speculation at this point, but that's usually all we have to do around here :tea:

It is not usual companies make TEASER trailer of a MOBILE game. I think you must be right about get the buzz around the Tomb Raider... Every major game website disclosure this news. The game awards is right at the corner, maybe we'll have a unexpected surprise?

I read a lot of people talking about some fans are so happy to see Lara with braid and dual pistols, and that is ridiculous we limite the vision of the franchise by this...

But hey, this is the most close that we have of the vibe of the classics Tomb Raider since CD took over the franchise.

This is BIG!
For a company that during the reboot trilogy was doing everything to put a nail on the coffin of classic Lara... This is HUGE! And most importantly, It gives hope to see more real tomb raiding stuff coming along...

And it is working!
I mean, look at everyone here posting your opinions e talking about this news.

Isn't about a free mobile game!
It is about seeing, the character personalization and the vibe of what made us loving this franchise. It is about seeing the classic logo being used again. The scion present on the trailer... And I must say that the secret sound gave me chills.

So don't be harse with our happiness to see dual pistols, braid and most importantly, Lara's attitude portrait well.

To be fair, the reboot trilogy sold tons of outfits as DLC. Not once did they give us a proper classic-inspired option, which would have done wonders with letting players choose how they saw Lara. Yet we got all those hideous culturally appropriated tribal outfits.

I mean look at the resident evil 2 and 3 remakes. They went for a far more realistic horror tone, and changed the default character designs to something a lot less campy and more practical - but they still gave us the OPTION to look like their original designs, because they respected their fans and the games history. CD didn't even try, instead they tried to pretend everything pre-2013 was all a mass hallucination.

SoraSakai 24-11-20 00:55

It’s just gonna be generic Lara on one side of the screen, enemies on the other side. Tap what Lara does. Does she shoot them with a gun or something something backflip.

While I think the change to more "practical" (read: generic) outfits in the REmakes was unnecessary, given in both games the characters were suddenly thrown into action when not expecting it, I agree. At least they included versions of the original outfits as unlockables. Albeit poorly in Jill Valentine's case, having to change her skirt to shorts, because they put in so many gratuitious close-up ass shots of her in cutscenes a skirt wouldn't work. They covered her scandalous legs in the default costumes though so I guess the church elders were happy...

The thing is, Reboot Lara actually does have quite a nice, athletic-curvy figure under her clothes, especially in Shadow. She is not flat-chested nor is she lacking an ass or curves. We can just barely tell, because she's constantly drowning in boxy mens' clothes, and overdesigned tribal skins with 100 layers of rags flying off her.

Alphonse 24-11-20 01:10

Did you notice how she holds Roth's pistols ?

Is this a clue to foreshadow the return of the Duals in SOTTR2 ? :ton:

Urgh still salty about Jill`s redesign. They could have easily gone for an classic inspired look that was more realistic, but opted to go for Claire/reboot Lara/generic 2010s heroine instead.

With Lara its not even about having a good body or not IMO. The simple fact that they didnt even do the absolute bear minimum to even give us a classic inspired look - or even a cool adventurer look, still irks me.

I've been out of the loop for a while now, what rumor are we talking about?

Not some of y'all acting like this is the only thing happening next year and it's some sort of slap in the face.

Have some bread and maybe you'll calm down a little. Y'all wanted Classic Lara, claimed she was long dead and that SE hated her, and here she is. Wait and see what happens.

Tr1 getting a remake. Again. This time, using TR Reboot Lara!

I dont believe the leak though, doesn't make sense that they would release TR UE (which will likely contain TR1 and maybe even anniversary), Reloaded - which is clearly heavily inspired by TR1, just to release another tr1 remake. Seems a bit much and could force the franchise to be viewed as stale again. Since, you know, doing another rehash really shows a lack of innovation and creativity. Then again, thats right up CD's alley so could be true.

I still don’t understand the outrage. It’s an app, not a mainstream game.

Would like to see Classic Lara video games for gaming platforms such as PC/PS. And not stupid ass, garbage ass telephone mini games

Maybe the team only had access to the mobile platform.

I don't think it's fair to drag on the game when it's not out yet and we don't know much about it.

Well doing spinoffs on mobiles is being done across most popular franchises these days, so I think its completely fair. I do think its a bit early to say whether they're trying to keep classic Lara and future Lara separate, because this could indicate that they may be returning to more classic feel overall.

But I understand the skepticism around here right now, its not like SE is the most communicative company, nor have they really been fair on classic fans for the past... 7 or so years. Then we have had a lot of stupid statements over the past few years, such as 'forget everything you know about Lara', 'no more shorts, dual guns, or dinosaurs' etc etc

charmedangelin 24-11-20 02:02

And there it is, he is obviously hinting there is more than one game.

They're actually not. I've been onto the TR subreddit and the reaction is very much similar to here. Mixed at best, some people saying they'll try it but they're not crazy about the idea and others who are just saying this is dumb as ****.

As for that Tweet, he could be hinting at literally any game, not just TR ones.

That said I kind of agree. I don't think this game deserves to be downvote-bombed and met with this negative reception at all. I think people are just tired of asking CD/SE to do classic-inspired games that are actually somewhat promoted, higher-budget and mean something. They don't expect much at this point. They're totally expecting this to be all there is for the 25th anniversary and with good reason given the past decade of this franchise, and seeing that it's "just a mobile game" is understandably annoying.

In any case, it just gives us more than enough reason to check out the game awards.

Lmao, wow. I saw it being posted under TR posts along with TR reloaded.

Well then never mind.

It would have been a cool marketing tactic if they gave us a puzzle to solve to get info on future releases.

Stop buying Tomb Raider games in name only and maybe Square Enix will come up with a real one.
