So what we can take from this AMA/Q&A thing is:

Misha had quite an expansive plan for the movie, when she pitched her vision
She is not currently writing the script, which can mean a lot of things, including that the current draft is at a shootable place (or that the whole thing is unsalvagable, but considering the rest of her answers, that doesn't seem likely)
She has faith Alicia can make great things with her script (which, let's face it, wouldn't be a problem since Alicia killed it on TR2013, even with a subpar script)
When adapting any work, including Tomb Raider, she is more worried in transmitting the same feelings and themes of the original, instead of just copying it (which could mean that, if Obsidian is indeed based on SotTR, it might be closer to what TR2018 was to TR2013 instead of a direct adaptation
Obsidian is still a provisory name, and could change
She has been a fan since the classic days
She feels confident on the script, and is more nervous about directing (understandable, since it will be her movie directing debut)
Not much, but sounds good. And most of the answers do feel like it is indeed something they are planning to do. Hopefully the movie is soon fully greenlit :)

Thanks for link to the tweet I quoted. Being on the kindle Twitter app sucks sometimes, I can't do sod all with it.

Thanks for the summary, Portugalraider. As little info that Misha gave, I still find her answers encouraging. We just need to manifest MGM to green light the thing. :p
Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life, starring Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie and directed by Jan De Bont, is coming to Netflix streaming services in October 2021. The film is based on the Tomb Raider video-game series from Square Enix.

Intrepid British archaeologist Lara Croft (Angelina Jolie) has made perhaps the most important archaeological discovery in history: an orb that leads to the mythical Pandora's Box. Unfortunately, the orb falls into the hands of Jonathan Reiss (Ciaran Hinds), an evil scientist who deals in killer viruses and hopes to sell the secrets of the box as the ultimate weapon.

Recruited by British Intelligence to get the orb back from Reiss, Lara recruits Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler), a British marine turned mercenary (and her former love interest) to help. The two embark on an adventure that spans continents in an attempt to regain the orb.
It's nice these movies are finding a home. In the UK they've been available on the iPlayer for a while. :D

I think when Netflix launch the anime we should all do another watch party thread. :)

I like reading those little tidbits Misha gave us. If her treatment was what got her the job maybe there is a lot more that we can read into with her initial tweets with the emojis. :p

There was reference to the Easter Island statues which is famed for being on an old volcanic island and Obsidian is formed from the lava of volcanos. Maybe Lara is going on a Polynesian adventure. :)
Offtopic: yesterday I saw "I care a lot" in Amazon ... if one day we have a TR1 adaptation, Rosamund Pike is the Natla we deserve.
Would she be even interested? She already did Doom and I think that she did that awesome.

Tomb Raider is just so huge. It is unlikely you would do the film and not be famous. I don't know who could take on the part for Natla. An unknown actress would have my preference. Someone with no background in movies. I don't want to see the film and think, hey I know her from that other movie? But I do want a movie inspired by Tomb Raider. A lot of people who haven't played the videogames don't even know who Jacqueline Natla is. They might know the movies though, but where is she? 25 years later. She is expected in the movie verse by at least one fan. A race for the scion, plot twist she set the whole thing up to find the superior breed of humanity? Actually I just want to see the catmummies on the silver screen. <3 love you much.
