They have made all of the icons in shields, and we've been seeing them around for months in all kinds of stuff. It's just the 'style' of the game. Nothing special.

Well thought should be put into these things. There is a reason I'm sure. They could have chosen a triangle, in which sense would be made "Oh, Dragon's Triangle".
