Well her pants are...pants...so it's hard to make them look like legs.

Though I'd like to see her top made the colour of the GOL outfit, with the same pattern on the sides.

But yeah, people don't seem to be modding much.

I think I'm in a very small minority, but I never thought that young Lara getting the backpack was iconic in the slightest. First of all it didn't make any sense, why wouldn't she bring a backpack, her own backpack. (That would've been boring though) I think I would've liked it more if she found something in it, a key that has a role later in the game, or an artifact or something.

I said her backpack was iconic, not how she got it.

This 100%. Her backpack means a lot, it's like a physical company who's constantly supporting her in some way. Kinda silly, but meh. And I dislike the kevlar egg-black backpack, leather brown classic ftw!

This day was so exciting last year with E3 TR media blow-out. Missing those golden days this year. :(

I don't mind it TBH. I'm happy CD will experiment with next-gen with different titles. By the time they seriously start working on the next TR title they should have some experience already.

I have the feeling they will use the same engine all over again, so at this time they should be ****ing experts. No need to re-learn everything tough some major changes have been done. Not sure about being interested on another CD game except TR.

I wouldn't mind that either. They couldn't use all of TOMB RAIDER's engine's potential, due to limitations of the current gen.

Odd logic. That suggests that, four/five years ago, Crystal rebuilt their CDC engine and the result was something too powerful for current tech. That doesn't make sense. How can you create something using current tech and end up with something too powerful for current tech?

_Ninja_ 07-06-13 20:23

If by current gen we mean consoles then it's true. Only the PC squeezes everything out of the engine and probably it could offer even more if it wasn't designed for the consoles in mind to begin with.

You're only talking about the visuals, there's nothing else that the PC version does that the console versions don't. Any other shortcomings would be down to Crystal and their coding prowess, or lack of (like the absence of swimming :pi:).

JsotoTRSaga 07-06-13 20:31

Actually CD Should at least release one more TOMB RAIDER game for current gen, and then for the third game release only in next-gen bc not many people can afford next gen consoles as soon as they get released.

Spong 07-06-13 20:42

If we don't see another TR for two or three years, I think it'd be fine if they went next-gen only. I don't know how long the platform holders & devs/publishers will want to continue supporting the current-gen, I imagine it'll quickly get to the point where it's holding next-gen titles back though.

Considering how long the last one was in development (and how disappointed Square was with the sales), I'd imagine Square would want to push the next one out as soon as possible. So I expect it to hit shelves at some point in the second half of 2014. Probably for current and next gen.

I sincerely hope SquEnix doesn't go all Eidos on Crystal, we've all been down that road before and it won't end well :(

That has nothing to do with the point I was making.

Crystal probably won't try anything as ambitious as AOD, but still, rushing them into next gen could be a bad thing.

I seriously doubt that the next game will be a next-gen title. They've spend so much time (and money) rewriting their engine and development tools for the reboot that I'd imagine they'd want to make good use of it. I expect the next game to be a current gen game but it'll probably get some cheap next-gen ports a la Legend.

_Ninja_ 07-06-13 21:33

Just do everything the PC does and it's good to go for next gen. IMO. For at least one more game.

I don't mean in the sense that Crystal might try to do something they can't achieve, like Core did with AoD. But it's common knowledge that SquEnix isn't exactly 100% shipshape fiscally, I wouldn't want them cracking the whip and trying to make Crystal churn out games like Eidos did to Core.

Umm, not just visuals. Though mostly. The next-gen won't improve much on other aspects anyway.
But I'm fairly sure on next gen we won't need long black corridoors when entering a tomb, for example.

I honestly don't expect a TR game before 2015 and by that time we'll be over one year into next-gen.
If anything, then the next-gen will be ported back to the current-gen consoles.

I doubt TR9 "needed" them either, they're there for atmosphere (I quite liked those bits :o). GTAIV hasn't got any suspiciously fenced in roads hiding load screens.

I agree with this, they will probably release a sequel next year and IMO it's the best thing they can do. We know that the sequel was in pre-development before TR released so i wouldn't be surprised they would announce the sequel before this year ends. Guys don't be so negative CD and SE are reading.

Evan C. 08-06-13 00:02

But isn't the current engine prepared for Next Gen? I see a MASSIVE difference between PS3/Xbox 360 and a high-spec PC. So, I bet they could take those incredible graphics, HQ textures, TressFX and etc to PS4 and then improve with that basis. There's no need to erase it, it's obviously what they are going to use for next gen consoles.

larafan25 08-06-13 01:56

I feel like there's going to be a village/ tribe of indigenous peeps in TR10. Perhaps featuring friendly NPCs. Hidden away in the forests.

Also, lots of rivers and waterfalls.

O.

Swimming is a must. But yes, I feel like we'll be on a raft or some sort of smaller boat at some point.

Dammit I loved that Kayak!

On another, but still vehicle related note, does anyone think the current Lara is/should still be a biker? Original Lara being a biker was kind of a huge part of her old image. Thoughts?

Yes. Even in her current form I can imagine her being a biker. She works in a bar, has gotten in a bar fight, etc. I think it fits her image.
