I need to make time shorter...anyone would like to play Lara Croft and The Eternal Delays on X360 with me?

ModeratorOMD 10-05-12 21:27

Why so glum? I have Crystal Dynamics's marketing plans and initiative right here.

Rai 10-05-12 21:30

^Nope. That's Katie Fleming's proposal, she was looking for a job and thought she'd make one to impress. It's not what they are working by. :p

Do you really think they would share their marketing plans with public?

slavo120 10-05-12 21:35

They donīt have marketing plans, they change strategy like a sox:pi:

No developer shares their marketing planes with the public. That's really unprofessional.

ModeratorOMD 10-05-12 21:55

What happened to that golden age of video games where people used to go and get the stories, not have the stories come to them?

Let's be Pro Active people!

trlestew 10-05-12 21:57

There are no stories.

ModeratorOMD 10-05-12 22:04

I know. I'm just joking around. See ya later!

I haven't even noticed the giant gap, to be honest. Ya know why? Because I've been busy, having a life.

Seriously people. Get a hobby, or something. Sitting on here raging all day is just pointless, and will make the time seem slower.

Maybe you should get a new hobby yourself. You seem to be making a hobby out of advising us to get one. Actually, you've posted here quite a few times recently. I know you mean well (well, I think you do, I don't know you really, I'm assuming..), but these guys really aren't going to get a new hobby. :p

One would think that with CD/SEE mainly focusing on Hitman: Absolution (let's say, a random person who isn't a die-hard fan of either, but wants a cool game to play, so to him/her, it would be better than TR since there's already been reveals, trailers and screenshots.) TR would be getting a reveal soon but no... CD does it yet again.
I really wouldn't be surprised if the game's been pushed back to 2013.

CD have no affiliation with Hitman at all.

CLF 10-05-12 23:12

I do think that the fact that Eidos are releasing both of their pillar releases so close together can only benefit both camps. Think of all the cross promotion opportunities!

Well not only does Crystal Dynamics not have anything to do with a game made by IO interactive, but how have the Hitman fans got more than the Tomb Raider fans anyway? We have already had reveals (2 rounds of magazine articles), a trailer, screenshots, developer interviews and a few other video features, as well as a fair chunk of gameplay. We got to see the game earlier and both games will be coming out within a few months of each other.

The Hitman fans had to wait a very long time to see anything of their game, the last one came out in 2006 and the trailer only came out around October last year. Before that they only had a teaser trailer from May 2011 that showed nothing of the game. I think the Tomb Raider fans are better off. In the end it is not how early you started the advertising campaign (look at AOD), or how many magazine previews you got before release (Duke Nukem Forever), but how enthusiastic everyone was just before the game released that matters the most. The publisher wants them them so excited they all rush out and buy the game. No point getting them all excited ages before the game is released and then failing to rekindle that enthusiasm when it counts. In the end both the Hitman and Tomb Raider advertising campaigns would have a fair chance of making the same impression. Even if Tomb Raider started with the biggest splash and doused everything else. We have yet to see if Crystal Dynamics is planning on making a similar impression as they start the main campaign, but it would not surprise me. Lara is likely to be leaving Agent 47 for dead at E3.

Tomb Raider be promoted off the back of Hitman events and perhaps even little things like advertisements inside the game box when it's released and vice versa.

trlestew 11-05-12 00:47

They still do that.
My copy of Mass Effect 2 came with an ad for Dragon Age 2 for instance.

NCFirebolt21 11-05-12 00:55

OK, I guess aussie500 is right... maybe, there might be something at E3. Maybe. I'm not getting my hopes up too high. Or they could just reveal a random game release date and start doing trailer reveals every single week till the release date...

larafan25 11-05-12 00:58

They're confirmed to be at E3. They also said it's go big or go home, and that they don't go home.

Weemanply109 11-05-12 01:17

^Funny, Will.I.Am's song 'Go Home' started playing as soon as I read the end of that sentence. :pi:

The lyrics go like "Go hard or go home!".

Oh, I understand now. That's a good idea.

larafan25 11-05-12 01:50

Link reminds me of Lara with his feathery hair, gently curved nose, earring, diagonal chest strap.

_Awestruck_ 11-05-12 02:09

After reading her marketing plans...I see no similarities at all. :p

Leave her alone! :pi:

Just checking Katie's marketing plans and I don't see any similarities neither :p

Katie_Tomb_Raider 11-05-12 03:31

You had to know their marketing strategy really well before to compare, and then to see the strategies behind the new one/mine. It's ok... ;)
