I don't think people should be putting all their eggs in one basket. We've had no official confirmation of a release date, and no dev/publisher will ever admit they're having problems until their back is against the wall and they admit a delay. I think people should be at least prepared to accept the game might get put back.

Also, I think they've said before they won't be delaying TR to evade higher grossing or more popular titles.

but they could change plan ..if everything going according to their plan then we could know for example VA but no, because they postponed the announcement...........

I'm depressed, Manutd lost the title in 92´ extra time:hea:

SpyrosMonster 13-05-12 16:26

just because you follow the usual dates and all of you think it's going to be released in Oct. it doesn't have to be that way!(i don't say that it won't come out then it's just a thinking) maybe they will release it before any of those games come out! (Sept. release) or even after those games come oute like (Nov. or Dec. Release) or even get pushed back for 2013 release (which i doubt)

_Awestruck_ 13-05-12 16:31

It's getting really tiring to see this discussion pop up every day. I wish something in an official capacity can be said so this can be put to rest.

Cant wait to see more tears , when they announced the game for 2013 at E3. Which is probably the Case.

Please bookmark this post of your. So you can see what you said in May 2012. I can't wait to see your face during E3 when CD will announce an October release date for Tomb Raider. :D

They Hit Alpha in January or something... so they had like 10 months to finish everything.

They don't care. They are doing their job and the last thing they care about is if we are bored and depressed because of the waiting.

lcroft_lc 13-05-12 17:24

^ I agree.

I bet people like Pietras annoy the hell out of them sometimes though. There's nothing worse than an armchair pundit making out they know more about the industry than the industry itself. I'm sure staff at Crystal have seen threads/posts on this board countless times and have wished people would STFU.

I don't think it annoys them, I think they are laughing at how stupid and impatient we are sometimes. And also, when they leave the CD building I doubt they know some Tomb Raider and its drama fans even exist. They must be over the moon when they have a day off. I know I'm moaning too, because I can't wait for the game and the waiting is frustrating, but I wouldn't bombard Karl's twitter with questions "when finally?" like some of us keep doing. That's sick and over the edge.

Ya they are laughing so hard that they have to fell down from chair sometime and they need a long time to stand up. :p

_Awestruck_ 13-05-12 17:37

So is judges week where all of the "best of E3" games are nominated, or is that at the show itself? Does have any purpose? :p

Lukass 13-05-12 17:39

I hope they will take some pictures like they did last year.

lcroft_lc 13-05-12 17:44

So it was around May 20 when last year's Judges Week happened.

Those concept arts was good too, to get something at least.
http://www.gunsandgrapple.com/2011/0...e3-judges.html

I hope they will do the same this year as well. :)

That was before Crystal had to put up with a year of you lot complaining about no news. They won't show us anything now out of spite :D

_Awestruck_ 13-05-12 18:19

That honestly wouldn't surprise me. :p

SpyrosMonster 13-05-12 18:19

^ actually that's one more reason that they should release those screenshots
but if CEE DEE wants to keep us moaning about everything then ok just do it :ton:

NRO. 13-05-12 18:19

Just read this on Cracked.

I've always wanted a survival game where you actually work to survive and even struggle. Say, the beginning of Fallout. You get kicked into a wasteland from the only thing you ever knew where you had almost no survival skills. Instead of the first thing you do being go forth and kill people, you attempt to find food and water without getting caught. You find a gun? Too bad, you have no idea how to use it unless you train with it, and by that I mean target practice. As you train your ability to use that weapon or item gets marginally better. You hide in the day and scavenge at night, until you can finally confront people.

Also, the world has its own ecosystem and does its own thing, kind of like Skyrim, but less scripted things. The end goal would probably have something to do with why you're in the wasteland in the first place, which is why this game is so hard for me to figure out. Like, you can't just go scavenge forever and eventually become Bear Grylls and that's the end, there has to be a driving plot that makes it vital to survive but also keeps you from just sitting on your ass trapping animals.

I'd love Treboot to be like this. :D

That's a nice concept, and I wouldn't mind if TR were like this by any means. But if I had to choose, I'd choose something centered a little less on surviving and struggling to survive and more on exploration. I think TR will manage to combine the two and still manage to be cohesive, though. (Or atleast I hope :pi:)

larafan25 13-05-12 18:24

The main issue with this is that TR is hogged by such a gameplay restrictive plot all of the time, whereas in Fallout you can move at your own pace and initiate the adventure how you'd like (which I'd like in TR).

To me it wouldn't feel the same as Fallout, it would feel forced because the story would be forcing it upon you, so I think a key to having gameplay which makes you feel what is written above, is to provide an experience with lots of freedom and choice so that you can accidentally wander into the harder areas and get your ass kicked before the story takes you there.

Lukass 13-05-12 23:58

The E3 judges week started earlier than last year, huh?

stevencroft 14-05-12 00:05

Wouldn't you all rather be surprised?
There are some games I wish I had never spoiled for myself.

What do you mean exactly? We don't know much about the game really. And they're certainly not going to spoil it.

_Awestruck_ 14-05-12 00:26

I actually share that sentiment. Assuming the game is on time, the silence might actually be a good thing. Maybe they're just going to let the players experience the game themselves when it comes out.

Lukass 14-05-12 00:28

I agree, I want a lot of surprises in the game, but they also need to show what they're selling.

larafan25 14-05-12 00:28

^^This is what I thought, but then they said something about lots of characters to reveal.

:/

Lukass 14-05-12 00:30

I hope they're not going to reveal them all :/ I wouldn't mind if they revealed some Endurance survivors, not too important in the story...but I hope they're not going to reveal the tattooed guy with the necklace who saved Lara from the ship.

Title: Tomb Raider release date shifts to 2013

Hello everyone, Below you’ll find a very important message from Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics.

A Message to the Tomb Raider Community

When Crystal Dynamics first set out to reboot the Tomb Raider franchise, there were two goals that we were extremely passionate about. The first was to create a modern Tomb Raider game that would surprise and excite gamers. The second was to make this the best game of our careers, something we would be really proud to be a part of. We truly believe that we have something very special on our hands and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game. In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.

We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve. We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait. The game is looking amazing and we can’t wait to show it to everyone at E3 in a few weeks.

Darrell Gallagher
While disappointment in having to wait a bit longer for Tomb Raider is natural, I – and the rest of the studio – firmly believe this is the right decision. I know you’ll agree when holding an exceptional experience in your hands come launch day.

I’m sure you’ve got lots of questions about the news above. We’ve created a dedicated thread in the official forums for you to voice your questions and comments. I’ll personally gather the common inquires and pose them to Darrell in the next Crystal Habit Podcast, so here’s an opportunity to make your voice heard.

To take a bit of the edge off the delay we decided to release a new screenshot hinting at content you’ll be seeing at E3. You can check it out above.

As always thank you for your continued support!

Meagan Marie
