I was wrong before about Unfinished Business using a slightly different PC engine. I used a demo back then which was a slightly different version compared to retail. Today I tested it again on a different demo, and it does in fact load. So this is not why the Egypt levels haven't been ported successfully. It's very much a mystery, but the project is still being worked on.

Also, the Atlantis levels have gotten another update. Lighting has been fixed completely and now looks exactly like it does in the PC version. I made a bunch of comparison screens. Get ready:

We didn't realise how far off the lighting in the PS1 version actually was, so I'm happy with the final result.
