Most pieces of fiction and art are done in inspiration from another. Raiders of the Last Ark was created in homage to the adventure serials of the 1940s/1950s, so whats wrong with TR taking some inspiration from Indy?
Probably because Infernal machine wasn't as well received as Tomb Raider from what I could find.

Ha ! I didn't think about that. Infernal Machine is heavily inspired by Tomb Raider gameplay. I should finish the game by the way, it is a nice one.

"Heavily inspired" is putting it mildly. Infernal Machine is one of those typical 90s TR clones, though it's certainly one of the better ones. But yeah, maybe LucasArts was just salty that TR was more popular than the Indy games. But then again Infernal Machine and Emperor's Tomb were both released close to TR games and LucasArts should've known better.
