I totally understand his situation, but in case that he's not avaliable for a while it's absurd not having an alternative admin or a help assistent as Dustie says...

I have been wondering why the level builder community does not use popular modding sites like Nexus and ModDB (in addition to TRLE.net). Both sites are well maintained and people have full control over their uploads.

You do realise that people, including MichaelP, do all of this as a hobby, right?
People do this sort of stuff in their free time. So if nobody has the time or knowledge or whatever to take up the job, it is not like MichaelP can put an add in the newspaper or on the internet recruiting people like companies who pay their employees do.

So, it is not absurd.
Just a fact we have to deal with atm. And that means being patient.

So it seems all we need is a volunteer co-admin...

I guess.
Would take some work away from Michael I think.
But I'm guessing he wouldn't just take any random person in. Would have to be someone he knows and trusts.

The real blessing would be to at least have some access to ftp.
Because everytime a fix is needed we can't just fix and upload
*Every author could get his own ftp folder so no trust issues appear.
**But we'd also need some global access to fix packs of unreachable authors.

This makes me wish TRsearch allowed level hosting.

It kinda does, since it's owned by AspideTR now, and they do host levels... I hope AspideTR updates their layout too and becomes more modern, also with their level hosting.

Some people did use moddb, unfortunately, they never finished the levels they announced. I wanted to join moddb either but had problems with registering.

Sounds good in theory but what if a builder throws a fit and deletes their levels? This is where the trust issues start.
