Is Foundation Engine the property of Square Enix ? Or it's for Crystal Dynamic ?

CD. And it’s indifferent as the UE deal was already made

I think having a western publisher is going to benefit Tomb Raider A LOT. Square Enix seemed very restrictive in a lot of ways, specially with unrealsitic sales expectations, so can't wait! A lot of good news lately, I have a good feeling with this new era.

I'm surprised they sold the whole lot but yeah, I mean if studios are reported as losing 60+ million on the launch of a game (like what happened with Avengers), then companies do reconsider their overall strategies for sectors.
It's possible that they managed to claw back returns for that game, maybe it's even profitable now, I have no idea. But I know from working in business planning that something that huge will make decision makers take a fundamental review of that part of the business. Maybe it was the final straw. They always seemed to be vaguely dissatisfied with performance of the western developers. --- I'm not sure this a good thing for TR, we shall have to see what happens. Unlike some, I don't think Square were the worst thing that happened to TR. I don't think they were perfect but I do think they supported the franchise better than the previous owners by a good way. I wouldn't be surprised if the budgeting now drops significantly, but who knows. I don't really know anything about this Embracer Group.

While this isn't specifically about Tomb Raider, this article states that development of Perfect Dark won't be affected by the purchase:
https://doublexp.com/news/perfect-da...ystal-dynamics Maybe the same can be said of TR?

The price is right, the budget that went into the reboot games never was.
And with SE's thriving mobile sector and the not great results of the Marvel deal, the western HD segment has slowly become a glorified inconvenience for SE.

![]() *** I don't know what to think. First I heard the name Embracer, it was in the comic section as they had acquired DH comics. Would this effect things like the Live Experience, anime and movie? Maybe they've taken the franchise on with all these projects untouched.

They kept repeating Tomb Raider in the stream
For the announcement so I can only think that they are absolutely thrilled to have Lara on board. Not sure what to think of all of this, but at least, they seem very excited by their acquisition. Hopefully, it’s not only because they know they got Square Enix good, and they are genuinely happy. Interestingly enough, they do mention that all studios acquired have expressed a need to develop quality sequels to their games or something along those lines. I think Square was telling them to ship ASAP instead of letting them develop their games in peace.
