I'm not a retro collector or anything..so I know nothing.

But yeah, you're right. Here's some info: https://gaming.ebaumsworld.com/artic...igns/85608231/

I can only recall the jewel cases with the thick black bit.

Again, I could be misremembering, but the trapezoid boxes were only for PC games, I think. Feel free to correct me on that.

I've found a few threads about the long boxes, and while it's not conclusive, a lot of the comments from European people claim they don't have any memory of seeing them before.

I bought a copy today (getting a little PS1 collection to look after going) and was like "great now I gotta find out what this came boxed with"

So it's meant to be like that, that's interesting. The instructions explaination would have made sense since it boasts Dutch instructions on the back of the case but our single PS1 cases are much thicker by the looks of it so you could probably get a pretty hefty booklet in there
The games release sounds pretty chaotic so maybe it's just the simple explaination of crossed purposes amidst the panic to get it on shelves?

The only Tekken variant in a big case of similar size is the American PS1 release. Resident Evil 1 also had a big case release in the USA. TR1 did not.

Forgive me for replying a year old post.

I know what I'm talking about, you are not making any sense.

I'm from the UK (which is Europe) and I saw them, Resident Evil and Tomb Raider have it, When I meant DVD case, I was referring to a long box case. PS1 longbox cases are very rare. Then you have a standard PS1 Cardbox case as well which is rare. Tekken has that too.

None of your links works!

I managed to find one of the links via Google search:
https://www.invaluable.com/auction-l...5-c-20e4779a40

This is NTSC-U/C version. The thread is about PAL versions.

Most PAL PSX cases (not generalizing - a good portion aren't, but most are) have those big jewel cases. Doesn't mean they have double disk - it's just the standard. I have TR4 and 5, and they're the big double case, without having two disks.

The OP was asking why the game was first released in a case like this:
https://www.ebay.it/itm/155255588360

and then like this (like your TR4-5):
https://www.ebay.de/itm/175475951621

!!! None of the auctions are mine nor anybody I know. Linked only to show the different cases.
