Default HD Patch / Fix

Hi all,

I'm sorry if this has been covered many, many times before, but I haven't played this game in a while and I can't seem to find any way of running this game at a high resolution @ 60fps. I can remember running it like this around 2016, but have forgotten how and am on new hardware.

I am planning to run the steam version, which I've read is a pain.

Please can anyone who runs this version let me know?

Many thanks!!

The game itself can run at very high resolution. It doesn't need any patch.

I don't know about the resolution: natively, TR4 has a limitation of about 2048 pixels wide or height, and you need dgVoodoo to go higher (otherwise it just won't launch). I have no idea about Tomb Raider 2.

However about 60fps: forget about it. The 5 classic games run at 30fps and you can't "unlock" more, because the it is actually coded around that assumption. You never played those games at 60fps, your memory is probably just playing you.
The only exception is the inventory screen on TR1 Saturn if I remember correctly, but once back in game it's 30fps again.

dgVoodoo 2 or TR2Main patch will let you run the game at very high resolutions, if you have UHD 4K monitors or similar. Without any patches at all, the playable game still works at 1920x1080 without any problems but switches automatically to 640x480 for the FMVs which is a bit annoying. There is no way to play at 60 FPS.

Ah, it's just the definition of "high resolution". I consider 1280x960 as high resolution, while you mean 4000x3000.

Thanks everyone, really big help and apologies I wasn't very specific.

No idea why but I was having frame rate issues in the vanilla game. It also ran with a window around it and looked out of proportion. All good now tho
