I'm no expert but it looks like a paint fill and then erase parts

Here's another of my picture paintings.

Create a new layer set to color or multiply or something and use a brush.

Also, if you're gonna watch a video, why bother with it if there's no one talking you through it? Something without ****ty music like this is way more informative.

Holy ****, some of those tutorials are from gfxartist.com. It's a shame that place was too "elitist" back in the day so DA basically killed it.

Anyway, www.cghub.com and www.cgsociety.org have some interesting stuff if you look closely. And http://www.sketchtheatre.com/ for some inspiration.

Also, since you're apparently interested in faces, Enayla has some pretty cool tutorials on her site www.furiae.com , which apparently has been hacked recently.

...and you've probably heard of all these places already.

-----------------------

Anyway, just so I'm not spamming, here's a "sketch" mixing photo manipulation and regular drawing, so I could get a general idea of what I'm going for in this personal project. Around 2 hours total once I was done selecting the pictures. The setting was heavily inspired by the Metro 2033 book (I haven't played the game), the story is my own, though.
