I think it's a great idea. In first versions I had loader for Android port HD textures. Here is very old screenshot:

But it's very lazy (at the end of game) and useless rework some of textures just scaled x4 without any filtration. I looked at custom texture packs from community but I didn't see any full rework.

Download the Xtra textures. There is one that is complete but it's terribly unfaithful to the original textures, Anjonasdh-something's pack looks great. The folders are a bit of a mess and can be hard to find stuff but most if not all Caves textures are done.

Other packs are also worth a look, it would just be a matter of finding the necessary textures and replacing them with the best looking ones.

If you'd like I wouldn't mind helping out.

Now I'm working on normal mapping generation based on existing content. Screenshots is mathematically incorrect but it's just first attempts :)

Now WebGL version can open original PC and PSX level files from your computer. Not all working well, it's a big task for the next alpha version 8)

This is absolute bananas.

We've been waiting for something like this for so long... Incredible.

Currently the web version from the OP link is unusuable for me, it runs but I get like 1 FPS, it's unplayable.
The latest release from GitHub, OpenLara alpha 1 (20161126), works about fine and it's gorgeous! The only issue -- sound is glitching, it's broken up with tiny regular intervals, like it's playing in slow speed without being resampled beforehand...

Is the GitHub version the truly latest one, though? I can't seem to activate shadows or any other of the recent graphical effects you wrote about.

EDIT:
The web version works much better in Firefox, it's actually playable. I LOVE the real time shadows!!!

Thanks for feedback. I'll increase sound buffer size, it may solve "clicks" problem.
Web version is most latest, executables on GitHub are updating rarely.
What a graphics card and browser (Chrome is prefer) you have?
