I can't seem to use the left/right shimmy commands in the Lara's home tutorial level on the browser version? Is that just a missing feature?

Also, I am going to third that request for a pointer to the code for handling .wad files.

Okay, thanks for the tip. I thought .wads were the basic file format for the early TR games?

They were, however a .wad file with resources is one thing and a compiled level file is another. Put in another way, the wad only contains the assets (models, textures, animations, sounds) but holds no information on how they were utilised or where they were placed in a level map. Wad handling is something relevant to a level editor / level compiler and not an engine for playing already compiled levels, where no reading of wad files ever takes place.

Alright, thanks again. What's the format used for the compiled levels themselves, and is there a particular package used to unpack those?

The level files follow a proprietary file format, described here:
https://opentomb.github.io/TRosettaS...vel_format_tr1

There are tools out there that allow extracting textures, objects, etc. durectly from the compiled level files - but which tool to use probably depends on what you want to do with it.

The level editor / modding sections in these forums is a great way to start looking.
