So nice to see Vikander doing something sophisticated and adult, instead of tacky and dreadful.

Well I alredy seen the two available episodes it's not going to be full of spoilers :
I like where this is going I always love to see how a film get made (think about Hitchcock for exemple) in cinema or reading and researching the production details of the films so a whole series designed about this idea is very appealing to me. I was afraid Alicia the actress and Mira the caracter couldn't be distinguishable, after all they are both actress. But Alicia does a great job to draw a line. Speaking of to keep you on your toes you have two dance scenes and a time when Mira sing and danse at the same time and it's just mesmerising Alicia is fantastic (without any surprise) But the whole cast is really great too the blend of French actors and international ones are great. There is a kind of sexual tension between Zoe (Jeanne Balibar) and Mira wich is kinda unusual. Vincent Lacoste is really cute as this serious actor trying his best but the cherry on top is Vincent Macaigne who play René (the director of the movie) he's soooo deseperate to have his vision coming true he plays a combination of a desabused and little psychotic and passionate men at the perfection. I like the style wich blend between three styles the "real life", the film as shooted and the original movie "Les Vampires". The commentary about the cinema as a whole is great yes they does some critisism to Marvel for exemple, but it doesn't feel out of place. Can't wait for the next episode also I want to see the original movie wich as inspired this story and the movie with Maggie Chung.

This is on HBO, right? Is it likely to go to any other streaming service? I don't see how I'm likely to see it. Which is a shame as I'd love to.

I'm busy watching "Les Vampires", the original silent seven hour serial from 1915.

Did Alicia do something to her teeth? Her smile looks different in this show.
I watched 3 episodes. It's nice but nothing special until now. EDIT: Finished watching. It's very... 'french', if you know what I mean. French cinematography is intellectual, a little slow but sophisticated, and it requires an attentive spectator. Last edited by Teone; 11-09-22 at 07:42. |
