The gameplay needs to be less automatic, thats for sure. Traversal needs to be less painfully obvious, among other things.
But I also don't want it to go overboard, into cheap difficulty territory, it should be logical and intuitive.
Edit: oh, do stop with the hate train everyone, I for one, would like to see developers integrate and completely revamp tank controls and the grid system into a TR game with the power of modern day technology. It would be a very interesting experiment.
