Question Is AOD quite demanding to run in 4K?

I have absolutely no problem running this at 1080p on my PC but it lags considerably in 4K. While my PC is not 4K capable I would of thought it could handle AOD in 4K.

Here are my main specs:
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 2GB
CPU: AMD A10 7800 Quad Core 3.5ghz
HDD: 2x 1TB
Ram: 12GB (1x 8GB, 1x 4GB)
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64bit.

Is AOD quite a demanding game then?

If you are using some of the crazy graphical options, with multi-sampling and some of the multipatcher options..... I can see it becoming terribly slow. AOD demands 60 FPS.

Right, I’ve just done some tweaking.

I turned off Multisampling which has sped it up considerably, it’s useless to use multisampling anyway in 4K as the image is smooth enough anyway. It still is slow ingame (although much better, it was about 10FPS before, it’s like 45FPS now).

What settings for the game and multipatcher would be the most demanding?

The highest resolution cubemaps for the multipatcher.
For the ingame settings, I think the 128,64 bit texture formats should affect performance.

I managed to get it running smoothly. I lowered the shadows resolution to x2, and water and cubemaps res to normal in the multipatcher. As the normal res for effects is half that of the game resolution the effect should be 1080x1080.

The high res cubemaps option is still on.

The texture settings are 32bit.

One more thing, is the sound better with Basic Core Audio Panning on?

It doesn't work correctly, objects mask Lara's shadow.

I played TRAOD in 4k maxed out settings last year. Didn't have any lag and a smooth 60 fps experience through the whole game! Quite nice to see how this game can still hold it's candle to today's standards.

The reflections at the end of Tomb of Ancients looks incredible for example.

The darts room? these are not real reflections, the room is mirrored upside down with a transparent floor. Neat trick.
