Default Shakespeare's Cliff: All Items - No Quad?

In one of the guides I read after I first did The Lost Artifact for the first time it said that getting all pickups but in particular the third secret required the quad bike.

If you know the level obviously you need it in two places but after you get to the main part of the last area I wondered if that was true. So I've just tried it and I think I made all the pickups and definitely have all secrets without using the quad bike.

Does anyone know if it is actually necessary for any of the later pickups?

There are some tough-ish areas requiring special or extra precise jumps to get to/back from. There is also one suspect jump where you seem to be deliberately prevented from grabbing a ledge. But even that has an 'on foot' non-cheat solution, in fact there's no necessity to take that route to get the pickup concerned anyway.

Completed my re-run through of this last night and whilst I think there is some padding, redundancy and unusually a few inconsistencies but I haven't changed my mind that this is the best set of old school TR levels they ever made.

It has a bit of everything, looks good and plays well. What more could you want?

Played it 'no scratch' and apart from one task in It's A Madhouse not that tricky although you do have to watch out for that TR3 dying enemy's last pull on the trigger which can damage LC and ruin the attempt.

Missed one secret in Sleeping With The Fishes because I'd forgotten you couldn't back track after you go past a certain point so I had to redo that from the start. But the second go through the main area there with the frogmen I made more 'interesting' for myself in a 'no scratch' attempt by accidentally triggering four of them at the same time.

Still great fun to play and I hope the Remastered game has done these levels the justice they deserve making them available to a new generation of players.

I’m 99,9% sure the uzi’s above the train wreck are impossible to get without the quad.

And in response to the last post: TLA has amazing levels, but I sincerely HATE Sleeping With The Fishes. My gawd, what a slog…

It can be done without quadbike. It contains 2 difficult jumps. But it's not too difficult.
