From Tomb Raider Chronicles:

Quote:
Blaze Entertainment has announced that Tomb Raider Collection 2 is coming to the Evercade retro gaming platform. The collection includes Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles, allowing players to join the fearless British adventurer Lara Croft on her 32-bit platforming adventures.

The cartridge includes Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, which features a bonus level previously only available as a PC-exclusive playable demo, and Tomb Raider: Chronicles. Both games offer engaging environmental puzzles, third-person shooting mechanics, and iconic level design, continuing Lara's legendary journey through action-packed challenges.

Evercade is a cartridge-based retro gaming platform available in handheld, console, and bartop variants. Video games for the Evercade ecosystem are released on physical cartridges and come complete with a printed manual. The Evercade ecosystem includes four decades of gaming history, comprising over 500 video games from home console favourites to arcade classics and modern indie retro titles.

Tomb Raider Collection 2 will be available for pre-order end of February 2025, and will be released in April 2025. See the official Evercade website for more information and our Evercade section to view the latest assets.

I don't know much about the Evercade, but I assume it's just a multi-system emulator that plays legit licensed ROMs/ISOs. Judging by the trailer, it appears to be emulating the PS1 versions.

Which begs the question: how are they emulating the Times Exclusive Level? As far as I'm aware, the level format is PC-only and is incompatible with the PS1 file format. It took quite a bit of effort for our very own TheBlueFox to create a working beta of it in 2021.

You don't think…they "stole" TheBlueFox's work and are trying to make money off of it?

(I put "stole" in quotes because, while hacks and modifications of an existing IP presumptively belong to the IP-holder by statute, it feels ethically dubious to appropriate somebody else's work notwithstanding.)

Sorry for the double post (I seem to have lost the ability to edit posts?), but I just wanted to add that Evercade seemingly has a track record of using ROM hacks all while insisting they only use approved files sent to them by the licensor. For whatever that's worth…

Times Exclusive was built for the PS1, or9ginal data files are compatible, but the final release was PC only
