@Tomb Raidering: 😘

@Pillis: When you talk about tight controls in Underworld it makes me feel like we played different games. I'm glad you had no trouble with them. I found the jumps and platforming super frustrating...Lara's animations are so spastic and unpolished that it can be hard to line up jumps, and the camera whips around a lot in an attempt to keep up. Those jarring camera movements make me nauseous. Legend had the most cooperative camera of the LAU series for me. Regardless of ones stance on the reboot, it made massive improvements to the overall camera control in TR.

As for the other points, I agree with you on a lot of those. Even though I think they went overboard with the rewards in TRU, they gave you a good reason to explore the environments. It felt like exploration for the sake of it, which I like. AOD is, especially towards the end, an incredibly linear game. I almost said "most linear TR," but that would be probably be Legend.

Some of the underworld animations are weird yes but I wouldn't say they're ugly. She has new moves that makes platforming more fun and prettier to watch like standing on poles and rolling on beams. Also the grappling hook wall-runs are easier to control than in anniversary and I like the wall to wall jumps they're fast and pretty to see. I don't remember having issues with the camera I just hate that in all lau games sometimes it's difficult to aim her in the right direction and that happens a lot in all 3 games and sometimes in AOd too.

The biggest issue with Underworld animations is that they're really fast and transitions seem chopped off almost every time. And it makes her look completely weightless.
Also some of the animations are definitely less graceful than in TRL/TRA (swandive, or reaching to grab a ledge are the first that I can think of), but they're generally more realistic (run, ledge climbing) so I guess it compensates.

What I appreciate about Underworld is that it gave Lara some weight, all of 3 games are very fast and unrealistic with their platforming but in Underworld Lara feels heavier at least. Sometimes it gets clunky when she stops against blocks but I though it was very old school, like when she used to go against a wall and go: ugh! in the classics. And yes you can tell some transitions are off and not very fluid but I was never a huge fan of CD animations anyway. Honestly they improved a lot with the reboots but that's the only evident upgrade the series got with the new games.
