People say Core's tank controls are outdated, not the level design. And in the 90s / 00s they complained because the formula of the games didn't change significantly over the course of four years and five games. We haven't seen that type of level design in 21 years though (technically 22 because Chronicles' levels are not on par with what came before) so, technically, it should come as a breath of fresh air compared to the more linear / hub world approach of the last couple of games.

If they mix it up with some of Crystal's and Eidos' physics-based puzzles and the puzzles are not just "find the key" I don't see anything outdated about non-linear level design.

As long as the physics puzzles are more LAU than Survivor I'd be down for that.

The one little thing I would say it's outdated about the level design in the PS1 games is that , expecially in Chronicles or some urban levels in general, you could clearly tell that those levels could only exist in the context of a videogame.

Yeah that was definitely something I feel AOD/legend managed better.

Yeah I really loved jumping from platform to platform in the 90s games but nowadays I think it'd look really weird to have platforms jutting out of the ground or just straight up floating in the air for Lara to jump around on. I understand it's definitely more satisfying than climbing (white) ledges and it was really fun for its time but nowadays it would look too... "Video-game-y" which I don't personally think is necessarily a bad thing but considering that in general Tomb Raider always pushed for a relatively realistic look (environment-wise) it would stand out too much.

I have nothing against the old school platforms (in fact I prefer them to ledges and poles, which are guilty of basically turn the game into a 2.5 platformer). What I meant to say is that many of those districts and buildings don't look like they were ever meant to host a living population.
the opening area of Rome in TR5 comes to mind.

Hayley Atwell will voice Lara Croft in the Netflix anime.

Personally, while I do think it's a shame Camilla isn't returning, Atwell is also such a great casting!

I wonder if she will also be the voice of in-game unified Lara...

Wow that's crazy. Weren't people talking about how she should be Lara not too long ago?

Really great choice.

Utterly disappointed it won’t be Camilla.
Still hopeful for her in TR12, and if not Camilla, Keeley

Plus that dress giving me TRC vibes.
omg I'm bloody psychic. Finally someone who sounds English again!! Perhaps this anime will be worth watching after all. This is awesome news. If she was also unified Lara I'd be happy.
