Here is what I want for TR....I want it to get D-listed and become akin to that of Bloodrayne w/ rampant sexism and violence. It'd hit bargain bins and a straight to blu-ray /digital film sequel should follow suit. No theatrical release. TR deserves to be trash.

Default Not the best way to convey your opinion

"And why you should be too."

Yeah....This was a terrible way to phrase this statement. An "OOF" on your part.

Not saying there wasn't statements in the comments that weren't equally as questionable, but the OP definitely sealed the fate of this thread.

This comes across as you trying to start a public discourse. Not a civil discussion (or at least the intention of one).

Listen, We all have our frustrations. But I think coming out swinging with such an aggressive agenda to get everyone up in arms was not a good way to make your exit. Why?

One, This type of post has been done dozens of times before. And have not improved the fanbase or the franchise in of itself one bit.

Two, It's negative nature is already prompting a divisive response due to the very nature of how the (REBOOT) Tomb Raider games have been received on here.

Lastly, People can interpret anything in different ways. It's not a one-track hive-mind. People can have different priorities, and different outlooks on things. A good way to not gather this divisive crowd is let the audience interpret things for themselves, and not decide how the audience is supposed to feel. Deciding what the audience should feel is a common mistake that poorly written schlock usually makes when they don't give the viewer enough respect to decide on their own.

I get that It's a tough time for being a fan of the earlier entries. And that the reboot games (and maybe even the LAU Trilogy) have such a differing appeal compared to the older titles that it's hard to really give these newer games anymore chances due to them just ignoring your preferred type of Tomb Raider game. It's definitely an issue with Square Enix's way of treating most of it's fanbases and how they cater to a section of the fanbase.

But this post (whether it had good intentions or not) came out to be a lot more presumptuous of the audience's feelings from the offset. So it's a bit hard to take a post like this on a serious level. No hard feelings.

I think it is helping the fandom to an extent. The classic fans feel ignored by the developers and this kind of posts unites or reassures by showing our frustrations especially over Lara are widely shared. By expressing it we feel a part of something like together we can make a difference. I don't agree with the premise fans should walk away at all, we should pressurise for change but the tone of the original post is something I think is uniting.

That depends on our perspectives.

Does making a post like this really mean much when the developers don't really seem to care? I think a better way would be to present why your opinions with the same kind of sincerity you would have when you're reminiscing of an old friend. But the original came across like somehow we NEED to be pressured
for change. Which I'm sad to say doesn't work as well as they intend to.

Because this forum is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to which kind of games they prefer. Which is fine. But the wording in this kinda does the opposite of bringing people together, as these feelings aren't shared by everyone here.

But I do agree that pressure is the only way to provide change. The Classic Tomb Raider petition thread still had a much more respectful tone of it's audience.

Personally, I think both types of tomb raider fans can co-exist. Either through making them separate series within the same franchise (Metroid and Metroid Prime come to mind), or through integrating some of the qualities from the past titles into the newer ones.

It's just that Square Enix And CD don't really provide much of substance for the side of the fanbase that likes the types of games that came before. So fans they either latch onto any type of vague promise that Square Enix provides them, or they either vent their frustrations, stop being interested in the series, or just accept what has come to "replace" the old.

In summary, having a less aggressive tone with a post like this would imo bring together more people (as in BOTH sides together), even if it would come with the usual arguments of a TRF thread.
