It's possible that they put the original TR I level geometry into that game and then changed the layout a bit and put the fancy graphics on top of them. That would've made development easier. |

At least Crystal did this when they started with their own TR I remake. They put Legend Lara into the first level of TR I (and claimed that Legend Lara could clear the level far too fast, yeah, sure).

Core used the original level files as templates for all the levels and then added onto them, so the actual level layout would've been the same in many places but they changed the puzzles, added in new rooms, etc. and in some instances also did change the original layout (look at St. Francis Folly, for example). And, of course, they completely overhauled the visuals.

^It's possible that Crystal came up with it independently. Traceurs do use a move that's somewhat similar (though only somewhat) in real life, where they push themselves upwards off a wall to reach a higher ledge. They don't touch the wall with their hands while puhsing off, though, and they don't linger in mid-air, the way reboot Lara does. I also suspect that the animation for the move wasn't finished when that trailer footage was recorded. It looks like there's sth missing animation-wise.

I practice a bit of "parkour" and I put weight to the wall with my feet. The jump is not as high as Lara Croft obviously but still effective.

^Yeah, that's what I mean. Reboot Lara also touches the wall with her hands IIRC and I've never ever seen a real-life traceur do that.
