Happy Birthday to the best Tomb Raider game!

For the longest time I thought TR3 was my favorite but after a recent replay of TR4 I have come to the realization that it is actually my favorite. It truly has the full package: a witty Lara Croft with classic personality, an amazing story, amazing visuals (for the time) , wonderful music, great action, challenging & rewarding gameplay, deadly tombs and ancient Egyptian curses! what else could you ask for? truly a Tomb Raiding epic!

I agree with all of these. The graphics still hold up well to this day (at least in the PC version) and Lara is at her best here (along with Chronicles). And the music is underrated.

Ah, TR4, the best game ever to get your money's worth out of it.

It is the longest game of the series, with so many long levels, and took me four months to get through it. Plus playing all the alternative routes in some levels. The reason it took me so long was, that this was the days before Internet help and walkthroughs and had to rely on monthly game magazines bought in the papershop to get me though parts where I was stuck, especially the puzzles.

As I played the PC version, once game tools came available like position editor, etc, I started all over again with TR4 and explored every hidden and inaccessible areas in the game map, and unlike more modern games like TRL, TRA and TRC where it was only partly built, ie, around the official route and not so much off the route, the classic games like TR4 was totally complete and you could explore what was behind that pyramid or beyond that lake.

This inaccessible exploration took me a number of years, yes, years to completely explore TR4 just due to the size of it, so I got more for my buck than any other TR game. I am so glad that it was made

This truly is the last ultimate Tomb Raider game.

It has correlations to the first game of the series but with a different storyline that still manages to keep you on your toes.
Keeping it's sacred roots while improving the system.
Introducing Von Croy was a pretty good idea and the character isn't stale.
We learn more information about Lara's mysterious backpack "lunchbox".

Even though I got so scared once I reached the city level and I never had the guts to finish lol. I want to replay them all. But anyway besides Chronicles, this is our last full adventure of the original Lara Croft.
