I've seen others elsewhere with this error before, not sure if there's a singular cause for it or not. But regardless I've seen one solution over on the Steam forums that someone claimed worked.

Do this for me. Go into Settings in the Launcher and go to your graphics options. Where it says VMR9, is it checked/unchecked? Try altering that setting. So if it's enabled, disable it or vice-versa then start up the game and see if it works.

that is certainly bizarre. i'm on my way to work so i don't have time to troubleshoot in depth, but i went to my Data\Audio folder and my only "frontend" file is named "frontend.AWD". maybe try renaming it to "frontend.AWD.CLZ"?

are you using a retail disc version? maybe jathom can help

edit - ah speak of the devil, thank you jathom

No prob. Just call me the unofficial AOD tech support.

Edit: Also aaron, even if you're playing a digital version like Steam or GOG, I don't think this particular error is actually tied to playing on a disc version despite what it says.

Huh, that's usually the cause of the bulk of errors with AOD. Don't worry, I'm still looking around for you.

Edit: This error can also apparently be caused by low hard drive space or something while the game writes to its cache.

You're welcome, happy to help!

Do you have Steam installed to Program Files by any chance? I've heard before how that can cause issues for certain games not being able to read certain files.

So the game worked and pulled up fine before adding things from this modpack? Just making sure I understand.
