Not a fan of it I'm afraid. Like most custom patches, it just doesn't fit the zeitgeist. And it also looks like the game suffers from a few bugs.

Honestly, a lot of modern day effects don’t work for older games like these in their natural state. Bloom and anti-aliasing might, but that’s it. The blockiness is really what ruins it, I’d say.

Minecraft doesn’t necessarily qualify as an old game per se, at least to me, but you’re right that it can be quite impressive if done right. Those videos are very impressive.

It depends on how powerful the effect is per game.
I have used this shader on TombATI but it is set to be very subtle. I haven't any screens to show as it is a WIP but it seems to work well. The original TR2 and TR3 engine cannot work with reshade very well as the depth buffer is all messed up, TR4, TRLE (and it more advanced revisions) and TR5 all work (but again no depth buffer), DGVoodoo 2 had a bug with caused objects to flicker but an update a few months back appears to have fixed this. Other more recent games can look quite beautiful and can look drastically different. The ray tracing shader also cannot be released yet as currently it is a patreon only shader while it is being developed, it will be made free when complete. |
