Talking Simplicity in

Loaded up the PSX version last night and noticed this pretty quickly.

No ceiling trap door, a very bright and obvious ramp instead.

I love these little changes. I then booted up the jp PC version and there are no changes to this room.

A little more digging last night and I found out that in Japan for TR4 and TR5, the English releases of the PC games were released there in JP packaging, including an upgrade slip for when the Japanese version is released approx a month later, Eidos Japan would post them a free version! Perhaps a cheaper alternative than what they did for TR3 (2disk jp + eng)

More gossip about these I'd love.

Edit: I was mid thread title typing and then forgot..oops

My question is as ever, who would have made these changes to each game? Couldn't have been Core themselves, right?

Minor as they are, there's so many of them - it's really interesting to see...

As far as I've gathered with dubs, the JP software team get sent all the level and game building tools then they add their font system etc and make any other exclusive changes.

Each TR has a credits extra of Japanese staff - so I always assumed it was maybe one of them at Eidos Japan or Victor/Enix/Capcom/Electronic Arts

Wait, so that means you can finish that level without putting the MP5 on the table then?

No I played it slightly last night - the door inside the roof is shut until triggered (later?) I had to put the gun down to proceed without dying no changes there

You can open the trapdoor in normal versions. Only special thing here is the ramp really

I've managed to get my Japanese PC exe to work so I'd like to start playing here and there and see if theres any changes. Weapons dont seem to be any different. I have a feeling there might not be anything. Just a Japanese character Setup menu causing different offsets (pctomb5 -setup window) perhaps.

Does anyone else have any level ides that change in the PSX version I can check out here?

I'd still also appreciate a screenshot of someone's TR5 ORIGINAL PC release data folder with all created dates showing to see if any level files have been edited.
