I must agree it's the weakest opening. The landscape is gorgeous but it does not make everything unfortunately.

I think all 3 games had good openings. Rise sadly bores me to death after the first hour or so though.

You can't hate the bear.

You.Can't.Hate.The.Bear.

It's one of the best elements of Rise!

I actually really like the beginning of Rise. I can't say the same for the rest of the game.

I recently finished replaying Rise for the first time since before Shadow's launch and I enjoy it far more than Shadow tbh. And on the side the realization that you're never gonna be restricted to hideous outfits is bliss.

The beginning of Rise drags for me too. Even when it starts to open up, you’re cursed with running around the most barren, dreary hubs with more modern scenery than ruins. It just isn’t much fun for the first few hours.

Did anyone else feel the pacing was off by the time you get back to the Observatory after saving Jonah too? I remember thinking it felt like the end, but all of a sudden you have a few extra hours glued on between the Orrery, Path of the Deathless, Kitezh and that entire final section. I think it’s the Jonah rescue mission that throws it off - we could’ve just gone straight into the Orrery after retrieving the Atlas, but apparently we really needed an entire new hub just for combat.

That being said, those last few hours/locations are easily the best part of the game.

I think the Jonah rescue part was to give Trinity time to find the location of the Source so it would lead to an explosive ending with Lara vs Trinity vs Deathless. If Lara went in early it would have been just her and the Deathless down there.

From Syria to the end the game is good for me. The low points are Acropolis and Jonah's rescue, like almost nothing happened in these sections gameplay wise.

I liked the Jonah rescue area, we go back to snow parts with really beautiful scenery. You can see all the mountains that surround the area your at.

I also though it was a highlight of combat as baddies were placed around the map like the classics and not stuck into a battle section.
