Exclamation Net Neutrality at Risk!

So this has been trending and in the works for a bit..

Net Neutrality is defined as "The principle that Internet service providers and governments regulating most of the Internet must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication. For instance, under these principles, internet service providers are unable to intentionally block, slow down or charge money for specific websites and online content." by Wikipedia. Dictionaries haven't defined it yet.

We use the Internet for EVERYTHING. You're on it right now.

But this pending plan is for large corporations to profit from something we've taken for granted.. and by now could practically be considered a right.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.678cfa538498

To put it plainly, this bill will make internet providers free to consider popular websites 'Premium Content' that require monthly payment, instead of the internet being a widespread commodity.

If this bill passes in the United States it will set a precedent!

I'm not versed in techno-speak but this really concerns me and it should concern you too!

The FCC will block states from making thier own laws on the subject:
https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/22/...eutrality-laws

And don't give a about public democratic rights:
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...et-neutrality/

Can this actually happen? ?

Unfortunately, this can happen.

There are those who want to take away your freedom on the internet. It's a real threat. They'd LOVE to start charging you money for visiting YouTube every day, on the basis that streaming videos use lots of bandwidth. Or make sure you can't view any "edgy" political sites that clash with the views of corporate management.

I think these piggy sorts just haven't kept up with the times, and don't realize how important fair and universal access is.

I think they do realize how important the Internet is to the average person

They just scooped out their consciences for money a long time ago. Even before the Internet was released

New Zealand has been living with this bullspit and it looks like this..

Can I just say **** ajit Pai, I seriously wish I could punch him in the face and beat the living hell out of him. I normally do not speak this way, but by the gods this man angers me so much with his ugly punchbag looking face and his nasty rotten attitude. I swear to God if we do not stop him I hope to God someone takes care of him on the streets for being the demon from hell that he is.

If Net Neutrality was reversed, George Soros (&#128551 could buy a controlling interest in AT&T, Verizon, & Time Warner Cable and COMPLETELY BLOCK access to Fox News, Breitbart, etc. for 99% of the country.

Let that sink in.

This isn’t a partisan issue.

I'm ****ing Canadian.

Change the record or GET OUT.

We're talking about something that affects us all: Net Neutrality. If you have nothing on the subject, I suggest you find attention elsewhere.

Uhm... I can't seem to find that page on Verizon. I live in New Zealand and all the internet plans I've seen (including my own and the one on the verizon site) give you access to the entire internet. They're just priced accordingly to how much data you want per month and for what speed.

Are you quite sure the image is real? Or just mocked up somewhere online and NZ used as a proxy because no one would check such a small country.

However a scenario like that is entirely possible, and it's very selfish of the USA to think they can have legislative charge over the internet. Stop your bloody government before you ruin it for the rest of us.
