It's weird though, because stealth of any kind in gaming was pretty much non existent before MGS. Even if the stealth mechanic is nowhere near MGS's, they didn't put it in the previous games, so it definitely comes across as them trying to hop on the bandwagon, even if that wasn't the case. I know MGS's demo sold a lot (12 million) before the game was even out, and the demo came out in 1996. So it's not like Core wouldn't have known that that style of game play was soon to be popular.
Theif was a big game on PC that's was all about stealth.

Hmm....it is interesting.

Theif played with light and shadows for stealth while MGS was all about sound and other things.

It's clear they weren't inspired from one another, perhaps they all just got creative or something.

Whatever the case a lot of games back them were pretty original.

I kinda miss that to be honest, every game had such a different play style.

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysey was also a game mixed with stealth and platforming.

Wow there were some pretty cool games in the 90s

Perhaps the origin of so much stealth in games that year lies somewhere else, like a popular movie or TV series.

Not trying to beat a dead horse at this point, but honestly want to share this because it's really that amazing.

So we had the whole argument about PC culture and how Lara was changed to please it.

Well, looks like CD, EM, and Sqeenix are going to have to rethink this because this feminist rips on reboot Lara like no tommorow.

It seems even the people who maybe catered to with the reboot don't like the character and feel offended by how she is written.

The article was written a year ago.
Lara was not changed to please anyone. She was changed cause the developers wanted to try something different.
I believe that CD, EM, SE doesn`t give that much **** about feminism as much as you do.
The changes in the world don`t revolve always around feminism, SJW and PC culture.

Btw at the end the author says this:
„Let Lara Croft stand once more as her own person, in the light, as opposed to in her father’s shadow.„

Is not that what you classic fans always wanted?

Also the article is more about movie Lara and less about game Lara.
