I think it's in some card pack, yeah. I read about someone playing with it and it apparently makes the platforming more difficult.

You don't have to pay... You can unlock the card with in-game currency.

the manual grab is buggy as hell

she often falls to her death even so i press the button all the time. it seems like you have to let go and press it again when you jump from one ledge to another

it really wasnt fun at all

that's how it should be imo
In the classics we didn't keep the action button pressed all the time either
