Yes that's a very convenient interpretation Core fans seem to have adopted in latest years because they became aware that feminism is now hip™ and happening™ and didn't even consider before.

In LAU Lara does the things she does to uncover what happened to Amelia. Richard was convinced Amelia was somehow alive and Lara pitied him for thinking that way but after realising that he was, indeed, right she's even more driven to find the truth.

Likewise, Survivor Lara was even more alienated by her father's belief that there's a key to reviving Amelia bit after finding out that his beliefs weren't as crazy after all she sets out to find the truth.

People love to twist it around and pretend this somehow means Lara is only doing things because daddy said so but this is just a poor excuse to use feminism as a very fake angle of portraying modern Lara as anti feminist.

It's shameful really.
