I'm pretty sure Dallas has said the movie is its own thing, as long as it doesn't contradict anything from the unification and Lara. It's not tied story-wise.

But there has always been a little part of me that wanted to see a TR film based on TR1. This amazing slow discovery of Atlantis and who Natla is via the lost valley, Greece and Egypt... And, not going to lie, Legend also could make a good film story if they jiggled it and finished it better. Those diases, searching for mother lost in time and space, finding Avalon, I'd go for that.

Legend would also make for a good movie if done right!

Having said that though... Quote:

But if you take the classic TRs with their vaguely represented stories, I think they would all make for phenomenal movies if they're fleshed out. Fully agree with you both about TR1 being a great basis for a film. Peru, Greece, Egypt, and Atlantis, and fleshing out the conflict and Atlantean backstory between Lara and Natla without bringing in useless crap about Lara's father. How great would that be? I also think TR4 would be a perfect basis for a film - it's similar to The Mummy, and has a great character arc and tension build up between the protagonist (Lara) and villain (Von Croy). I think out of all the classics it's actually the most solid and cinematically told story. (I love AOD and also think it would be great as a movie, but it's also a bloated mess when it comes to story). Last edited by .snake.; 20-04-22 at 05:59. |

I don't remember how to / if I can link images from my phone so here's the whole post.
https://random0905.tumblr.com/post/6...r-celebrations It's Lara's Angel of Darkness model with Legend Lara and Doppelgangers gear. Looks amazing!

@snake, since I love Von Croy in TR4 (not as keen in the later versions), I'd really be up for a TR4 based film. They'd have to flesh it out considerably but the bare bones story of their close relationship and similar personality traits, and recklessly unleashing horror onto the world is one I think could work well.
Most of the game stories do need a significant amount of work in order make good films, but I do think it could be done, definitely.

We know how Von Croy's story ends, he gets killed. Would deviating from the original story be okay or cause more fandom ruckus? It would prolly be classic fans who hate the change

Deviating would be fine for me, but I suppose I can't consent for the entire fandom.
![]() ![]() I don't see why not. We can't expect the films or remakes to be entirely and exactly the same.

Plus, TR4 is really the only one that has a consistent theme about personal hubris running through its entire narrative. Almost all the other games either just have the theme of 1) Lara healing her father's legacy in order to heal herself (LAU/Survivor) or 2) Lara gets shiny object (TR1, 2, 3, 5). The former has become boring and overdone, the latter isn't enough for a movie. It's why they shoehorned Richard Croft into TRA, to try and give the TR1 story some depth. I still don't think it was the right choice though. Last edited by .snake.; 20-04-22 at 21:08. |

Richard has never worked for me because they made him have Lara's identity, they gave him her defining attributes - discoverer of hidden ancient mysteries that nobody else can find, explorer and adventurer. And it just subjegates her as a character in her own story!
I know not everyone else sees it this way but I do and have as soon as the first film did it, which Crystal then picked up and ran with for every game thereafter. I have actually no problem with her parents being in the stories (within reason) provided they don't trump Lara by being her, from whom she then is a copy. I think it was flawed and lazy from the start and I don't know why Crystal continue to push this narrative in every game.
