Wait...what?
Yesterday night I red an article (released yesterday morning) which said infected are over 8200 and over 120 dead...
I should change my news outlet.

10,000 infected and 200 dead is still less than SARS which had 8,000 infected and 774 dead. (If China is giving real numbers...)

The problem is that it can easily spread and it might cause deadlier mutations if it is not quarantined in time.

It is not so much that China is withholding numbers, it is so big a landmass that it takes time to get the numbers in from outlying districts. But as you say we can only go on what they say are the figures to date.

Mind you it is worrying how it has spread so fast throughtout all China regions and even reached Tibet now. No wonder Hong Kong and Islands want to cut themselves off at the moment from Mainland China.

Wanted to ask for a while now...
What is the age range for the deceased? I heard on the radio (it was a morning talkshow of some kind) where a woman said, that they are mostly elderly people. Most of the articles I've seen so far hadn't mentioned it. Is that true?

Elderly people/young kids where the immune system is weak and people with health implications. From what I've heard, it is mostly the elderly population with casualties. A healthy adult has nothing to fear, it will be similar to a common cold.

I'm more concerned about family members than myself tbh.

While very true. Not something to dwell on in these circumstances. I have several friends travelling on different trips to various parts of Europe in May. At this point, hard for them to know what to change and/or not to change in their itinerary (flights, hotels, etc.). Once you confirm, you’re stuck.

That's optimistic. If everyone is going to die one day then why don't we all jump from a cliff and call it a day?
