Happy 10th Anniversary Tomb Raider 2013!

Ten years ago Tomb Raider 2013 was released and we properly met Survivor Lara. We followed her through trials and tribulations as she fought to survive Yamatai and make it off the island with as many of her friends as she could save. Her determination and growing skills and confidence saw her beat the Solarii, led by Matthias, the Stormguard and the Sun Queen herself, Himiko. Lara made discoveries about the island and herself that changed her life forever. She became a survivor and would go on to become The Tomb Raider. Happy 10th Anniversary Tomb Raider 2013 and Survivor Lara.

I can't believe it's already been 10 years.

I do admit that I enjoy this game a lot - it's fun to replay, and the combat and action are both superb. Also the 'character' of the island itself and the art direction in (some) places are great.

Having said all this, I think it's a truly terribly Tomb Raider, and a horrific exploration and butchering of Lara's character - classic, new, or otherwise. If the game was called "Survivor" and the protagonist named Camilla, it would be more appropriate.

But again: it is fun to replay as long as you're not in the tomb raiding mood. Happy Anniversary!

Well if we're doing the counting game

Decade 1: 1996 - 2006

As you say: seven games, two movies, and TOP COW comics and various derivatives - this includes TR Legend, Crystal D's 1st game

Decade 2: 2006 - 2016

4 TR games, 4 LC games ( if we include Relic Run), Dark Horse comics

Decade 3: 2016 - to present- 2026

SOTTR, 1 film, 1 mobile game; Announced due this year: Netflix anime; In the works presumably coming before 2026: TR12; Amazon led TV show and film.

So yes, it's been quieter this Ddecade so far, but there's still time to catch up!
