Red face Memorable "Forgot to save" or miss-used saves

This includes PS1 and PC versions, miss-used saves also counts for the console version's save crystals.

As the title says, basicly share stories of moments where for example a saving crystal was very relieving to find after so much, or how much of a bad idea was it to save! Or, well, saving in a part where you have no running away in PC versions or something.

You mean only in TR1 ? Well I would say every savegame crystal in the last three levels where a relief

The first time I played the game also, in St Francis Folly, I used all save crystals while getting down the tower, not knowing they would be usefull after completing a room lol (in my defense jumping was very hard for me at that time lol)

The worst save you can ever do, is save just before Lara dies

You can do this by accident and when you re-load lara, she dies about one second afterwards, either falling or landing on spikes, etc

Hence a good tip is always to do a double backup if you can, by saving at least two saves near each other, and keep doing that, as you progress through the game. Hence if one kills you or goes corrupted, the other save is a backup LOL

This is useful for all TR games

My partner an I were playing TR3 over the Christmas break and he accidentally saved the game instead of loading while Lara was sliding down into a pit of fire in the India levels. He was raging but I found it hilarious.

The only way out of that situation was to enable the fly cheat since we forgot to create backup saves.

Would not have thought of that. Well Done

Just thinking now, about another way out of a 'going to your death' save, would be to use the TR tool 'position editor', assuming the save is valid by having true co-ordinates, and that would move Lara to a safer spot.

The trouble with position editor, is that if you save in some weird mid position or even mid movement, it can end up being not valid, and tells you it is not available as a save. But it is worth trying it to save Lara.

I actually attempted this first! But the position was invalid perhaps due to Lara being half way through a backflip.

Fly cheat really saved my arse here.
