i actually get used to there not being any news and then i barely visit the forums and concentrate on different things.

the most awful part of waiting always starts with the first gameplay videos, which means i was barely interested in the leaks and not that interested in the first screenshots.

i always start getting itchy when the first gameplay video comes out and then the torture begins. thats why the wait for shadow feels so surreal. its already coming out after barely half a year of waiting.

it took two years after the first gameplay demo for the reboot to come out. that was horrible

I don't view a hiatus, a break or a longer development time for a franchise to be something negative. There are so many other games, and if this franchise is truly taking a hiatus, I'd warmly welcome and even call for that. Every dev team gets burned out on working on the same franchise and ideas, assets and styles tend to get recycled every time a team is expected to constantly produce more and more.

Look at Uncharted, The Last of Us, The Witcher and similar acclaimed franchises. Each entry took its time before they announced the next game and the waiting period, while annoying at times, can still be filled with many other great games. 2018 and 2019 seem to be one of the best years in gaming with so many great titles of different genres coming and many others are suspected to happen at some point next year, even though not officially confirmed, so there's always more, hell even better games to fill the waiting period, and in that time, the TR franchise and its team can re-evaluate themselves, look for new ideas, whether it's a continuation of this version or a reboot that is more honest to who Lara Croft truly is, they can take their time in making something original and epic, rather than just creating more of the same thing.

Besides, these waiting periods often have quite a lot of rumors, leaks, speculation and you can also take advantage of that time to submit feedback and write what you'd like to see. There's a good chance they'd listen to what fans want, unlike when there's a set plan for a trilogy happening, where it becomes quite hard to implement any drastic changes due to things already being in development for a while, so if a hiatus is to happen, I don't think it's a negative thing, neither in terms of franchise evolution nor as a long waiting period for us.

I think there should be one after Shadow. They should look at Shadow and use how people.play that game to decide the direction of the franchise and decide how a new tomb raider game will be.

Sorry for the late responses.

Anyway, between TR8 and TR ('13), I was fine, rumours of the game appeared as early as '09, with plenty of speculation as news trickled in.
I don't think that we'll have a long break with TR. But I don't think that we'll wait 1 or 2 years for a new announcement. I'm expecting some new game mechanics, improvements, etc... Which that its time.

I got into the series in 2014, so unfortunately, beyond that I'm not able to contribute, Andre.

Every disscussion ever had is still available for your viewing pleasure. I check out archived sections every once in a while; its damned interesting.

With a bit off effort, and some patience, you can get a literal snapshot of the mindset around here at the time of any major event.

You inspired me to do a little digging... how bout a landmark moment in TR history?
Thank so much about the tip. It actually helped me.

Otherwise we end up just becoming a normal -ish community with most members having some shared experience/interest/fascination with Tomb Raider.
Oh, I know about that. We have some really good projects over there.

I remember that. I actually would like to see more about Tomb Raider: Ascension. But I have a feeling that it would feel even less Tomb Raider than the Tomb Raider we had.

I didn't say it would be something negative. Like you said, sometimes a break is what some franchises need. A break would be negative only to my heart.

Totally agree why stop at shadow when they can do more on the feedback of this game

I think we will have a bit of a break. It makes sense to re-jig things a little bit ready for next gen consoles, etc.

The longest gap was the 5 years between TRU and TR2013, but at the time it didn't seem to last that long. I find the forum nicer during the gaps.... more reasonable.

As soon as a new game is shown or launched is when all the conflict gets really bad. New people arrive and the same old arguments are gone through again. So I don't mind the quieter times.

Although I am most interested in seeing what they do with TR next.

Well, I've been a fan of the games since 2009, when I was 8, but I only really became involved in the online fandom when I was 13 in 2012, it was when I generally started having an online presence and discovered the upcoming TR2013 game. It was then that I joined these forums, so I haven't really experienced what a hiatus is like on here. Despite being a hardcore TR fan, the only classic game I've properly finished is TR2, so what I'm going to be doing with my time after Shadow is properly playing through TR1-5.
