Hello Woops, it seems you didn't notice my question about language ? Since version 1.5 I think, all texts are in English when they were translated before. I just tried to get back to previous versions and now they're in English even going back to v1.3, maybe there's a setting somewhere ?

I've never seen this happen on the PC version. Not asking Troye to add this "feature" to tomb3, but I was wondering if he could explain why this only happens in the PS1 version?
not quite sure, im not too familiar with low level PS operations, but I reckon it's something with Lara not getting clipped properly.

this is not really related to the patch, I tested French and Spanish with the latest release and they work
all strings are stored in the tombpc.dat file found in the data folder. You must've replaced it with an English one.

That's strange but I'll try a clean reinstall then, thank you for your patches !

Edit : it does work as intended now, I really can't understand how the English file got here…

Hello Woops,
until now I used Arsunt sunglasses patch with dgVoodoo to obtain a nice TR3 gaming experience on Linux.
Happy to see there is a new similar project.
I tried TOMB3 (with dgVoodoo2) and I have some questions:
- cinematics are interlaced, is there an option to change that?
- does it support Tomb Raider III extension "The last artefact"?

Last question:
- configtool needs dotnet 6, that is very annoying (near impossible) to use it on Linux.
Could you tell us what do you plan about Linux compatibility?

Thank you for your answers.

Default A Builder's Question

Hi Woops Hope you're doing ok!

I wanted to ask you about how the rain drops work on this patch. Since I replaced the original levels with my custom ones, I've noticed the rain looks different.

For example: In level 1 the rain drops appear to have a pink color.

And in level 9 (which correspondes to Thames Whraf) the rain is invisible.

Then I replaced both of them with the original levels and the rain goes back to normal.

My guess is that changing the levels is messing with some important data that defines the rain's color and transparency, but I don't really know how to fix it

hey
The original engine is incapable of drawing transparent lines, which is what rain is meant to be. instead it draws them opaque, this was fixed in tomb3, so they kinida take the color of what's behind them, if that makes sense.
This rain fix is optional and can be changed in the config tool.

no FMV fixes are currently implemented, and it will probably be a while.
yes, gold is supported, it's in the use guide.
Linux support specifically is not planned, and probably not ever, sorry!

I just installed and tested "The Last Artifact" with your TOMB3 project, by following the configuration wiki on your github page and it works great, it's stable on Linux/Wine.
As I clarified in a previous post, I cannot use the configtools application to launch "The Last Artifact", due to dotnet dependencies (not Linux friendly).
But I just used this command:
Code:
tomb3.exe -gold
and the extension launched as expected.
Woops did a great job!

I see Thanks Woops, if I can't get the rain to be visible, I'll disable the rain fix and go back to opaque rain.

I had the same issue others have reported before. Crash to desktop right after starting the game.

According to the Windows Event Viewer an access violation (0xc0000005) is the cause. This is related to sound since the game starts with deactivated sound.
I've tried multiple audio outputs, updated/installed drivers, fiddled with with the sound adapter settings in the launch options (leaving it blank or picking the only listed adapter) and installed previous versions of tomb3, everything to no avail.
I wanted to investigate further and cloned the github repo (master). As a first step I retargeted the solution to VS22 and build it, literally nothing else. Swapping the old dll with newly build dll already did the trick.
Now I can enjoy the game. Maybe the commits since the last release helped? Or it isn't working as it should. No idea, looks fine to me though.

Thank you for this project. I will report back if I encounter any issues.
