If you absolutely have to play only 1 Tomb Raider game this is the one I'd recommend (followed closely by Rise of the Tomb Raider) nearly all aspects from presentation to gameplay works very well. just a bummer that it was a bit too short.

I was very fond of TRU until I played TRL. Although TRL is a short length game, but I enjoyed it lot due to its smoothness, outfits, story, characters, bosses, environment, locations, graphics, battles on motorcycle etc. Moreover, I find Lara more beautiful in TRL than TRU and TRA.

I would just about favour Underworld over Legend, although it's been a few years since I've played either. If I played them both again this week I could easily change my mind. I think my decision is partly influenced by the fact I've still got a really cool strategy guide for Underworld.

Default Tried Playing Tomb Raider Underworld Again... and Nope!

The other day, I decided to give Tomb Raider Underworld another shot. You know, just to see if my opinions had changed over time. Well, guess what? They haven't! 😅

I started up the game all excited, reminiscing about the adventures of Lara. But man, oh man, I couldn't get past the first level after the diving section. The controls are just as clunky and stiff as I remember them, if not worse. It's like trying to tame a T-Rex with a stick!

I mean, let's be real here. The controls were never the highlight of Underworld. But as the game gets older, they feel even more frustrating. It's like trying to make a graceful swan dive into a puddle of mud! 🦢💩

I really wanted to relive the underwater exploration and epic tomb raiding, but those controls just killed the vibe for me. Maybe I'm spoiled by the more polished and responsive controls in modern games, but man, I can't help but miss the smoothness of Tomb Raider Legend.

Hey Scottlee! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's always interesting how our preferences can change over time, especially when it comes to revisiting older games. I totally get the sentiment, and it's cool that you have a strategy guide for Underworld – that can definitely enhance the experience and make it more enjoyable.

Feel free to give both games another go when you have the chance, and who knows, your perspective might shift again. At the end of the day, what matters most is the love we have for Lara Croft and the adventures she takes us on, whether it's in Underworld or Legend.

I personally find Underworld to be the weakest TR entry of the franchise wtih TR5 just above it, so this is fair

(Not to say I haven't found enjoyment in them!)

I would absolutely play Legend and Underworld again if they released them on PS5. I wouldn't go out and deliberately buy an old console for them though. My hope is that the new TR1-3 remasters will be successful enough that they will then want to port all the games to the modern systems.
