I think everything looks 1500$ level except for the face...

I agree with this. Hell, I'd say even the face looks 1500$ except for the mouth.

However, for a 1500$ statue, I'd argue that every single detail should also look 1500$, even things that might only be noticeable at very close proximity. Especially when the advertized model does have those close-up details polished to perfection.

Honestly, if I had bought it (and only did not due to lack of space for the forseeable future), would still be overall satisfied with the end product, as the overall statue still looks great. But I also would (and do) understand if someone would want a refund after seeing these results. For 1500$ plus shipping, I think it is quite understandable to fume over details that might seem just as nitpicks at first glance.

The eyes look a little off too, the one on the left is looking down at the raptor but the one on the right looks like it's looking slightly higher up?

The downgrade is obvious with the teeth and the eyeliner but she was hideous in the promo pics too imo

I remember people saying that her face is based on survivor Lara but she looks nothing like her

Her face is clearly based off survivor Lara in the artwork they first presented, which is what people were talking about in regards to this

And IMO, the statue image they then had shown still looks like an older survivor Lara - the end result, not so much

What it does look nothing alike is TRA Lara, which is whom the statue is supposedly to be from

As far as anniversary, the other thing she has from Anniversary is the cotton top, shorts, duals (which are also Roth's) and maybe the braid. The face is clearly survivor as are all the scratches, dirt, ect.

Hi, I looked at the statue & I have some theory what happened.

I think the difference in prototype vs the finished production model is they are using different tools, & there are "corrections" made that end up with the final the production model.

The prototype was done probably via some high end 3D printer or silicon mold, which allow for deeper details, while the final one using production mold which required easier demolding (technically, bigger draft angles), which probably explain the softer, flatter face features like the nose & teeth closer to the lips.

I also believed the touchup of the final production model was also done by a different person, or even some part automatic by the software, as the quality defference is obvious (face).

I wanted to point out I am not here to speak ill of WETA. I am a big fan of WETA & LOTR & Hobbit, even got a artbook from WETA. I am just stating my Observation. Making mass production molded part is not easy, & even more so for human figures. I think WETA just wasn't as experience as other big boys like Prime One or sideshow, but I think they can only improve.

But they should have had been at least more careful with how they painted the mouth, I think. The one in their photo looks quite fine, for example...
