Default Lara Croft Operator Bundle is coming to CoD Warzone

Lara Croft

Play as the legendary treasure hunter and video game icon Lara Croft in a new Operator bundle arriving in the mid-season.

It's sad to see Lara reduced to a mere add-on in games like Warzone, Fortnite, and Fall Guys. Embracers decision feels like a sell-out, prioritizing profit over preserving the character's identity. Greedy c#%€s

I kept saying it as a joke, but at this point it might actually even be true. She has now been in more games than her own.

The brand has been so watered down to a point where people are gonna start calling her "that chick from Fortnite" or something of that nature instead of THE Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.

Disgusting and sad.

This is a very important point, CD allowing all of these collabs is not doing the TR brand any favors. It's completely damaging the brand and making it virtually worthless. Then again we shouldn't be surprised that CD is bad with money given how much in debt they were to Square Enix since the day Square Enix acquired them.

Anyone have any idea how much companies pay to put characters like Lara into their games?

Can it be valuable enough to them that they pay sufficient that it's worth it to Embracer / Crystal?

I can already tell she's going to look ugly. Can't wait.

Hear me out:
Wouldn't it be SPECTACULAR to have Lara Croft in an actual Tomb Raider game one of these days?
At the current state of things, this seems to become the exception instead of the rule - especially, if we take into account what has been leaked about the sequel a while back.
Lara will continue to be one of many, instead of being the one, true Tomb Raider - even in her own franchise.

But alas, that is the state of things. That's how AAA franchises work these days. Please the masses at all cost.

Call of Duty, whether we like it or not, is the most played game each year and sells tens of millions copies each year - this is definitely not diluting the brand.

And like Fortnite, a lot of people will be coming in contact with her either for the first time or seeing her again after a few years.

Definitely a brilliant way to get her name out when there's nothing on a new game.

Maybe they are trying to create hype for the next TR game and to print her in the mind of many different kind of player by putting her in all of these other franchise DLC ? Like they think having her in fortnite and COD will make fans of these games buy the next TR because they saw her before in their fav game ?

All I am saying is that before they didn't need to put Lara Croft into the mind of other people. Everyone knew who Lara Croft is. She didn't need to appear as a random character in a random game regardless of how popular it is in order for people to learn who she is.

The fact that they feel the need to do this after the latest trilogy tells me everything I need to know about the trilogy.

So yeah, to me this is definitely diluting the brand. She is now just a random chick that appears as a guest character in random games.

I would also like to see the analytics behind this logic that if you see a character in your favorite game (Fortnite, COD, that zombie shooting one, Fall Guys, Powerwash Sim etc etc) you'll definitely pick up their game too. I can't imagine that tactic working, but eh.

If they wanted to keep her in the public consciousness, they should have released some mini product for Lara herself. Something small for people to chew on until the next big thing arrives.
