The only reason I rarely publicly say that out of all the classics, TR4 is the worst for me is because of those very same die hard fans you mentioned.
Pitchforks and torches suddenly appear in their hands every time someone dares say that TR4 is NOT the best thing since sliced bread. |

I would not worry too much about criticism, usually this is a very friendly website ![]() |

Thankfully I only lurk in classics and LAU threads. |

I can't remember which PC I was on, but there was a time in my life where I had a computer that TR4 didn't liked, and I did not had such softlock but a loooot of bug I nerver saw before and never see again. I think it was just the computer that was the problem for the game because on the next two computer I had it works just fine ! So yeah sometimes it's very tricky to play on PC...

![]() No game fits for everybody. Many people dislike TR as a whole, let alone this longest one. |

Alright I finished the game and my viewpoint on it has changed!
I actually love it. I’d say it’s easily the best classic TR! |

Having recently completed the game without skipping any levels for once, I can agree with this sentiment. There may be a handful of levels that I like, but I don't feel like starting up the game again any time soon...

Not that long ago I finally took the TR4 plunge and played the PS1 version. Though I gotta say that the only buggy thing that I really recall in TR4 was how especially terrible the collision was when underwater. I was used to getting stuck on nothing underwater in classic TR but nowhere near to THAT extent.

Anyone who disparages TR4 and calls it a buggy mess must be playing something else other than the version I do when playing TR4 on a Win 7 PC installed from original disc but running disc free. I hate keyboard control, which it sounds like you were doing too. I find it frustrating and distracting trying to use a keyboard when compared to playing it with a controller. That certainly can't have helped in forming your original impression of the game. With a controller you never need to take your eyes off the screen. Use a good old PS1/PS2 or XB360 controller for Windows and it plays practically the same as it did on PS1/PS2. There are bits of TR4 I do not like but my rating of it has steadily increased every time I've played since my first PS1 run through sometime circa 2000. |
