You need dgVoodoo: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html

Unzip it anywhere, copy the three files from the MS folder to your TR II folder, run the TR II Setup once and you're good to go. If you don't have the setup shortcut, then make a shortcut of tomb2.exe, right click on it, go to properties and at the end of the target line add "-setup". For example my target line looks like this:
Code:
"D:\GalaxyClient\Games\Tomb Raider 2\Tomb2.exe" -setup
You can rename the shortcut to something like "Setup" so that you don't confuse it with the main executable.

If you want some additional eyecandy like antialiasing, run the dgVoodoo exe (it's called differently depending on the version, but it's the only exe in the main dgVoodoo directory), click on "Add", search for your TR II directory, click on "Select Folder", go to the DirectX tab, uncheck the box next to "dgVoodoo Watermark" and activate whatever additional graphical goodies you wanna have.

Also if I remember correctly, the latest version of dgVoodoo (55.4.1) doesn't work well with TR II, but version 2.52 certainly does. You find it when you scroll down on the dgVoodoo page. Other versions might work as well, just experiment if you want.

Also you can try my patch from this thread. It fixes many compatibilities issues and adds many interesting optional features.

What is dgVoodoo for in this case?

Arsunt's patch adds real widescreen support and fixes window borders and FMV playback issues.

dgVoodoo emulates old graphics cards and thus eliminates compatibility issues with modern systems. In the case of TR II-V it also makes the games run more stable, eliminates the delays when you open the inventory and stuff like the incorrect transparency in the TLR inventory screen. Also it can help you increase the size of the huds in TR II and III when playing at higher resolutions: Just set your native resolution in dgVoodoo and select a lower one in the game. The game will be rendered at your native resolution, but the hud and sprites will scale as if you were playing at a lower one. For example I created a custom resolution of 800x450, set that in the setups for TR II and III and forced my native resolution of 1440p in dgVoodoo. And I use the widescreen patch from Stella's website.

Here are some sample screenshots:

dgVoodoo is very useful and pretty much essential for playing old DirectX games from the 90s and early 2000s without issues. Also some old games don't let you change the resolution, so the tool is also useful for that.

And I guess that it probably works in tandem with Arsunt's patch.
