I have every Tomb Raider on Steam. I recently bought a new computer, and I wanted to play TR2 and get other Tomb Raider classic ready to play, but I can't.
I already downloaded the Peixoto patch, the Tomb Raider Chronicles Multipatch, and still encountering issues. TR1 runs fine. TR2 and TR3 after literally going through a big headache, moving options here and there I can play them, but the FMVs aren't displaying , I can hear their audio only. TR4 and TR5, completely unplayable. After the Eidos/Core video, it'll freeze and stay black. What can I do? I've heard the GOG versions aren't much of an issue, is this true? |

Nowadays it doesn’t matter whether you have Steam or GOG or the original CD, because there are patches available to make every version the same and run on modern systems.
To begin with, perhaps try to use dgVoodoo 2 for Tomb Raiders 2 - 5, this should hopefully fix FMV problems (it did for me). Also make sure you have compatibility mode set to Windows 95/98 for all the games (for me, Tomb Raider 3 wouldn’t start up at all then I set it to Windows 98 and it worked perfectly). See if that fixes anything so far ![]() |
