Iirc, for the 2018 movie, they had an advisory role only, to make sure they didn't spoil anything for Shadow. Maybe they have a similar role this time.

What they have to do now is put the movie in streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.... So people can discover the first movie and bring them to watch the new film on cinemas.

The have it on Netflix in the UK and most European countries and HBO Max in the US.

I'd say the home video sales have been what made this a success. It was number 1 in the UK for a while I think with the added home release sales it ended up around 300M. I know it made 13M+ in US DVD and Blu Ray sales without including digital download.

On Reddit someone said the movie also faired fairly well on flights, which also adds to those numbers.

Regardless, I am just glad Alicia is getting another chance to play Lara. She killed it in the 2018 movie. Now to have a good to great movie, instead of just an okay one!

Same. This is probably the least excited I've ever been for something TR related.

Oh but that's the best way for them to get pleasantly surprised by the new movie if their expectations are so low ... if they ever buy the ticket for it.

Well, that kind of worked for me with the 2018 movie.

I knew it would be the script that would make or break the movie. It was definitely the low point of it. Yet still almost everything else (especially Alicia's acting) elevated it to something better than it should have been.

That infamous script that was leak, I am from those who didn't read it and kept the surprise until the release. I found the movie to be just decent. Several things could be much better but I don't think it was bad. Alicia was also the obvious highlight for me !
